Description

The entire first season of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER is presented here, including six episodes never before seen on video. Buffy is an ordinary 16-year-old girl who learns she's not so ordinary; she is the Slayer, a single exceptional girl who must do battle with vampires, demons, and other supernatural bad guys while struggling with school and dating at the same time. Enjoy one of the 1990s' most popular and highly acclaimed television series in this special DVD, featuring audio commentary by creator Joss Whedon on the two-part pilot episode and an interview with Whedon and star David Boreanaz (ANGEL).

There was a DVD release in Europe, but we never had one in the States!

There is a zone one (American) release of the first season of Buffy. I have it in my collection. Check amazon. :)

Negatory -

Amazon says - "Release Date: January 15, 2002. You may still order this title. We will ship it to you as soon as it is available; your credit card will not be charged until we have shipped it."

Up until now, the only Season 1 DVD was for Region 2:

I cannot wait. ;)

But I want the season that Hush was on. That is my favorite episode. I have it on the puter though. Still freaks me out.

Question: What makes Buffy so compelling? I watched an episode last night and ......nothing.

Is it the fact it's a vampire show? Or is it the actors? It's not bad, just not something to rush out and buy a DVD over.... Somebody answer this PLEASE.

Thanks in advance.

Different people like different things. I personally enjoy the show, but I'm not going to buy the DVD (ok, so I taped them, I'm in class when the show is on). It isn't a matter of being about vampires, or the actors, it's a matter of taste, which can be as diverse as any population.

Personally speaking, Buffy has never done it for me... But I can see why my teenage sons like it so much! :p

Now, "The Kindred" There's a series I would very much like to see revitalized!

I actually do have the DVD collection of "The Kindred" and miss it. I guess not many people were interested in it, and there was all the controversy of VTM, so it was never really given respect it deserved, IMHO.

I had the whole Kindred series on DVD as well... And the damned x-wife took it! :::Grrr::: Need to talk to 'er about that next time we're "talking."

What was the VTM Controversy? Not being one that gets into these things too deeply, I just grumbled a lot when the series ended so abruptly...

I've enjoyed the supernatural story my only problem is Buffy seems to have a bit of an eating disorder. And its hard to accept that a 98lbs girl can do all of the stuff she does.... think she contributes to eating problems with young women, making her a poor role model.

I didn't start watching Buffy until season 3, so I never saw the first two seasons. I'm happy about the DVD because a) I get to watch the stuff I missed and b) I hate VHS. And for $30, not a bad deal for 600 minutes of footage.

VTM, or Vampire: The Masquerade, has had controversy around it for a long time. Due to an assumption that the extremes of a group are what the rest of the group is like. When there were reports of extreme Live Action games, where blood was drained, people might have died, etc, the Media whipped the information into a frenzy which resulted in people of mainstream America being afraid to let their children play RPGs. One of the first things that had to go? The TV series based on VTM, which was the Kindred.

Ah! I didn't know that piece of trivia. Thanx! Find it hard to believe the way the moralists dictate society though. Really pisses me off!

Thank Gawd for the internet! They haven't figured a way to quash this yet... :D
