hello am somewhat new here don't know a whole lot about how things work i read the do's and don'ts i read the looking for a editor but there's one topic uncovered or at least one that i wasn't able to find ..

I am hoping to have someone look over a few stories but i have to ask about protection for the work submitted I realise they're voulenteer editors and i have the choice but by sending them my work is it protected in the sense that they too have a small set of rules about not claiming the ideas/characters as their own should they already write or perhaps decide to try. ?

Also wondering if a site ve reads it over, that doesn't mean I HAVE to post it does it? Some of the stories in question i am not sure if i want to post is all

Sorry to ask but i didn't see this anywhere and being newish i didn't think you would mind the asking if this is prehaps posted somewhere i will gladly accept navigation to it :)

Thanks for your time.

Yeah, most people either start a thread here with a request for an editor or contact one from the Available To Edit sticky at the top of this forum. This month's thread is here:

As for the protection of your stories, well... I hate to say it but you'll just have to trust the editor you choose. I haven't heard of anyone stealing a story or a story idea yet, but there is a small chance of that happening. Although you'll always have their name and can contact Laurel to pull their story down if you can prove you were the writer (keeping the conversation with the editor where you send them the file seems like pretty hard proof to me). Anyway, like I said, I haven't heard about any story-stealing editors yet, most of them seem pretty reliable to me.

You don't HAVE to post your story if you have someone edit it for you, it's your story and you're free to do whatever you want with it. However, I would only approach an editor when you are more or less certain you are actually going to post the story. Editors put time and effort into polishing your story (usually for free), so it would be a bit rude if that effort was wasted on a story that was just tossed into the bin later, without ever seeing the light of day.

No, there is absolutely no vetting or systems control over someone volunteering to be an editor here, including whatever they do with a file sent to them--or their training and expertise to actually provide a competent edit.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.

I am sorry if that totally signaled me as a newbie, but hey what's the point in trying to hide that now lol.

Regarding the having to post here was more meant as a question not that I didn't want to keep the story but perhaps have it put into a complation or publish it in a different style.

(note to self don't ask questions at this hour at night)

**pleaseplease (username) I couldn't get in touch with you via pm seems they are turned off for you to recieve

If you have it edited by someone here through this Web site, you should submit here or not submit it anywhere. If you submit it here, you could submit it anywhere else you wanted, as well. (I both post them on other free sites and have already had most of them in the market. I'm not using a Volunteer Editor from here, though)

The bottom line is that you shouldn't get your edit through Literotica and not offer the resulting story to Literotica no matter where else you post it (but you can post it simultaneously elsewhere too. Literotica only asks for nonexclusive posting rights to it).
