I seem to have a current obsession with shower body wash commercials. It was sparked by one they currently keep showing on CBC. You know those commercials are actually quite erotic. I think I'll write a story about it one of these days. What seemingly mundane but actually erotic thing sparked your obsession, and did you write a story about it?

We don't watch tv here. Haven't had tv service for about 6 years now. We have had netflix for a couple years and just a month ago got Hulu so we do watch movies and stuff.
Anyway, last month I went to visit a friend and it was so weird to see a commercial again. I can't remember the last time I had seen a commercial! Made me wonder how many other people just don't see commercials anymore due to not having tv service, or recording shows then skipping the commercials.
Sucks for advertisers I would think.

Okay mundane things that inspire me, my life! Honestly every little thing I do gets stored away in my brain to maybe be used later.
Anything from my latest road trip to me doing the dishes, anything can be inspiration.
Every story I've written has a little bit of me in it. Something I've experienced before.

I've just completed reviewing a story I wrote while on vacation, the inspiration occurring from being in the observation car of a cross-country train late at night, where the only two occupants other than me were a tipsy good-looking sailor and a young Jordanian woman saying she's traveling to experience her new country. In the conversation it's clear she's trying to lure him back to her sleeper for fun and games and, on his part, he dances around the issue, giving me a lot of looks across the carriage, and eventually, after talking about his good buddies in the Navy for some time, comes up with a fiancee he has and is going to marry. My impression was that there was no fiancee and he was interested in something other than women. Using that as the premise, I wrote the GM story from there. It will come out in a collection of six in an anthology titled On the Train.
