Evening ladies,

I've have/had <-(X cross fingers X) mild dysplasia* of the cervix for over a year and a half now, I've had 2 freezings that were unsuccessful and just had the LEEP* procedure done yesterday. I was WAY scared of the pain, but it went alright (nerves were frazzled for the day). My question is, what should I expect recovery wise? Pain? Have any of you had this done, and if so, what was the outcome?

*dysplasia: pre-cancerous cells.
*LEEP: an electrified wire loop used to slice flesh away from the body (my favorite gruesome conclusion, LoL.)

:)

I'm sorry you had to go through that:( But on the bright side you may have pain you may not depending on how active you are... Just hang in there I'm rooting for you

THE WIFE

NSW, thanks for caring. :) I've been through a lot, it's been especially nerve wracking on my family 'cuz the women in my family have had a history of cervical, uterine and ovarian cancer. All have had straight up hysterectomies and unfortunately they never had the different options like I went through. I'm 23 and want the OPTION to have another child, not that I want one now, I've got my hands full being a single mommy of 2.

As for being active (I'm assuming you mean sexually), I'm not very. Even hardly. It's been so long I'm almost a virgin again, LoL.

:)

I had cryotherapy once and a LEEP once. The cryo was more painful than the LEEP. The LEEP recovery time was nothing...I had some, um, drainage, but I felt fine the next day. Had to wear a pad around for a few non-period days, that was about the extent of it. The good news is that the LEEP seems to do a good job of removing the dysplasia. I've had several clean Paps since. Take care of yourself, drink lots of water and juice, relax on the couch, get to bed early. :)

Yes Mom!

Actually, I've been doing the water thing a lot since I started my New Years Reso. Now, if I could just get off Lit and go to bed earlier every night... ;)

I'm glad you're acing the tests Laurel.. truth be known I'm a little scared to find out the test results. After the first freezing they had found that the cells had spread. After the 2nd freezing my paps were still abnormal. When I had yesterdays procedure done, he said that it looked like the cells had disappeared quite a bit, but he was afraid that it may have spread up further in the canal where they didn't do any testing/ biopsies. Soooo, I have to wait wait wait wait wait for the results to see if that may have happened. Scary stuff, but then, I don't have to tell you that do I.

Na-night now.
