Women at War

And why is it not interesting that far many more young men and even boys "fall" for it as well?

That's a dog bites man story. We have a Y chromosome so any stick we pick up becomes a weapon, any issue a reason to use it.

because...

Young men are part of ALL armed insurgencies why young women seem to be drawn to the few Marxist and Maoist rebel groups still left in existance.

Still, I'm not sure why you would question a women would be less likely to be drawn to a cause. Women are the more emotional of the species and in my mind more likely to be drawn to such a cause. Frankly I believe women have been the cause of more wars than our history books care to acknowledge.

That WAS my point

Women are the more emotional of the species and in my mind more likely to be drawn to such a cause.

Yea, I agree, that was my observation.

LOL, Remind me next time we debate who is on which side, OK.:D

ok

Well...I didn't post it just for a debate on that, I posted it because I thought it was interesting and perhaps some of the women here would like to read it. Then I could answer any comments or question in general.

I also read an ariticle in that little NY Times newspaper supplemental magazine that there are many all women units in the the Free Aceh Movement in Indonesia. They have been accused of being an Islamic fundamentalist rebel group, if they allow women to fight then its pretty clear that charge is a load of BS.

In fact, the Mujihedeen Klalq of Iran are commanded by a woman. Technically it's a wife and husband leadership, but she wears the pants in the relationship from what I have read. Together they run an organization 15,000 - 35,000 strong filled with numerous women officers, tankers, infantry, and artillery crew-women.

The H'mong of Laos also have a few women fighters in their ranks, and they are fighting comminists (The Pathet Lao goverment of Laos).

some of the Burmese liberation groups (especially the Karens) have female fighters. Many were members of former student democracy groups that were chased into the bush are forced to take-up arms against the military goverment.

here is an interesting quirk

Libyan despot Muammar Khaddaffy's presidential bodyguard is an all female-force. He boasts that they are the descendants of the Amazons and often urges other Arab goverments to get women more involved in the goverment and economy.
