Women - A Thread About Beautification

I soak my feet in the hottest water I can stand, lean back in my chair and either

A. Watch Legend (Young Tom Cruise in a loin cloth for two hours)

or

B. Put cucumber slices over my eyes and take a nap.

I give myself a manicure and pedicure. And I usually paint my toenails a fun color.

And I do a mask made up of;

* 1/4 grapefruit (seeded and peeled)
* 1/4 lemon (seeded and peeled)
* 1/4 apple (cored, not peeled)
* 20 green seedless grapes
* 3 tablespoons chopped watercress
* 1 egg white

I take lots of bubble baths, too.

lavender if you can get a package treatment at a spa it will just blow you away :) i didnt even know half the things they did

im not a big thing with beautification but everyone should go to a spa once in their life ... can be expensive but you feel the benefits for long time

So what do you do to make yourself feel very feminine? What kind of beautification do you do to "treat yourself."

But, what I have never done is anything for my full body, the skin of my body. I'm thinking about one of those wraps this week to rejuvenate the skin etc. What do you know about them?

There are two kinds here in Canada and I have tried both.

Both are wonderfully relaxing, soothing and give you that all over fresh and new feeling.

The one they do here (in the sticks) is the body wrap which is basically a full body massage with some special herbs that heat up after they wrap hot sheets around you. I think its about a half hour you stay wrapped up and then its done. Usually soft lights or candles and music in the room.

The second kind I got to try when I went to Ontario this summer. Its the full body wrap with herbs and I mean full body. They start at your ankles and wrap you up to your neck. Its kind of like those sports bandages, stretchy but tight. Then they put you in a nice comfy suit and you sleep on a heated bed for about an hour. And yes, it is heaven on earth.

It depends on which you are more comfortable with. I couldn't have done the second one last year but this year I was more than ready for it. If only I could get one here at home.

I paint my toenails.

I scrub my face and decolletage(sp) with St. Ives apricot scrub.

I take long hot showers and shave legs, under arms, and somewhere else  :D

I wear lipstick instead of chapstick.

I wear my hair down, instead of thrown up.

I walk around the house naked and get comfortable in my skin.

Someday, I want to try a facial and body massage.. and maybe one of those seaweed wraps.

Here's an idea, go to the salon for just a wash.. don't need a cut. I love the feeling of someone else washing my hair.

Hi, Lavendar. :) I regularly have what I call Spa Day, and though it depends on what is needed most at the time, I have several things I do. I make my own bath products for the most part, but there are so many commercial products that I use as well. I start with either a salt glow applied all over my body, or a mud wrap. The one I like is made by Freemans, and its called Cherimoya and Cactus Organic Body Mud. I have used Origins Salt Glow, and also my own recipe. I let this sit about 15 minutes, and then I shower it off. (Or take a long bath, using a spa attachment on my tub, and lots of my own goodies I make.) In the shower, I use a loofah or a body brush to exfoliate with and remove it. Then I choose from a wide assortment of body washes, and my own Oatmeal, Vanilla & Honey Soap. Afterwards, I cover my body, while still damp, with Origins Precipitation Invisible Body Suit, it is the best lotion! Pricey, but worth every penny. :)
Then I do a facial, starting with Spa Botanicals Sea Mineral Mud Mask, then several products for aging and moisturizing. I do not wear make up at home because our skin needs to breath, so the only other thing I do is cleanse and moisturize again at night.
I do a foot bath and pedicure once a week, and a manicure twice weekly.

All other beautification needs are met through the use of toys. :)

I have baths with bathbeads in them. Oil baths, which saturate my skin and make it soft. I drink V-8 juice. I paint my nails and give myself manicures and pedicures. I masturbate. I condition my hair, and then put it up in ways that look pretty. Sometimes I give myself a Honey and almond facial.

Bubble baths, as many times a week I can manage. When the little one is finally asleep, it is mommy time! I usually use my raspberry scented bath salts, and bubble bath gel. No lights either, only candlelight. A friend of mine bought me the most yummy smelling candle from Primal Elements called Tahitian Vanilla. It is a soft scent and not overpowering.
You can go online and check out Primal Elements site for all sorts of candles and different kind of soaps.

I am also a big fan of Victoria's Secret Strawberries and Champagne body lotion and shower gel.

I give myself a facial using Herbal Logix gentle facial buff. It contains: Grapefruit seed extract, Tea tree oil, and grape seeds. It's a great exfoliator. It's not harsh on your skin, so you can use it daily.

For soft skin from head to toe I use another lotion by the Healing Garden called, Lavendertheraphy.....really!

Manicures and pedicures I will do for myself, but I much prefer someone else doing it for me. I like having my fingers and toes massaged.

About 1 time a month I go to a friend of mine who is a massage therapist and get a full head to toe body massage. I get a great deal.

Then there's nothing better than the feeling of fine silk against your cleansed skin to make you feel feminine.

One of these days, I need to experience the all day spa treatment.

I've got this little pair of scratchy loofah gloves (or fake loofah-esque plastic fiber of some kind) that I put on in the shower and I can make loads of suds with them and rub myself all over (yes, there's an erotic bonus to getting to caress yourself all over). Those gloves make my skin very silky afterwards, more than almost anything else I've tried.

I've also got this peppermint sea salt scrub by V'Tae that I love. It feels amazing during and after the shower too, and that sort of minty saltiness my skin has afterwards is terrific (and tasty): http://www.vtae.com/

I've been told over and over again lately that I need to indulge myself a bit more with spa treatments and relaxation etc. Those two things in my usual shower are basically my whole bag of tricks. I'll have to try some of the ideas some of you have.

I do the stuff like manicures and pedicures, waxing...the occasional massage, etc.

But you know what *really* makes me feel beautiful...

Taking a walk on the beach -- by myself

Doing Yoga

Laughing -- big belly laughs

And like Laurel said, having sex.

(Oh yeah, and when I used to have the money -- I'd go once or twice a year to the Canyon Ranch Spa in the Berkshires for 4-5 days. Sometimes alone, sometimes with my sister or a girl friend, but mostly alone. That was for piece of mind. This is reminding me -- now I need to go knock over a bank.)

P. :rose:

I like to indulge in a bit of self-pampering now and then (God knows I deserve it). I start in the shower and exfoliate my entire body, shave underneath my pussy, use a pumice stone with a strawberry/kiwi gel on my feet. I then pour some baby oil all over, letting the water rinse off the excess. Super-condition my hair and wrap it in a towel. A little baby powder between my legs & inner thighs. Facial consists of oatmeal, honey and yogurt. Love the cukes over the eyes, but then I can't do anything else so I only do that if I'm super tired and want to lie down.

It's happened on a few occasions that someone has rang the bell during this metamorphosis and I think I scaired the hell out them.
Middle of the day, goop all over my face, in my Victoria Secret (floral with pink satin trim) nightie and fuzzy pink slippers. That'll teach them for coming over unannounced.

Once I went to a spa where you go in a flotation tank and they play any type of meditation music you choose. Basically you just float in a tank of warm water filled with epsom salt. It's heavenly.

Oops I forgot to register. Or got logged out..I don't know what the hell happened. That was me.

Good Morning.:) Last night lavender PMed me with a request for more info on the things I mentioned in my post, so I decided to pass it on to you as well. I am going to include a couple links to some sites that I discovered that are wonderful shopping sites, and the first is a deals/savings/freebies site that I found a couple years ago when I first discovered the internet. Through this sites freebie board, I now have a bathroom that is more like a drug store, and I got it all free. :) Not only did I receive beauty products, but also T~shirts, CD's, computer stuff, household and kitchen products, including food, and on and on. The members there spend their time surfing the net and come back and post their finds for all. My goodness, it became quite the addiction for me, well, until I discovered erotica. :) It takes about 6 weeks to start receiving things, but once you do, your mailman will no longer care for you.
The site is www.bigbigsavings.com and the forum is Free Stuff. There is also a "Big Deals" Forum, which covers savings, codes and discounts for online shopping, and man, you will save some money. :)

A site I discovered from this site has to be the best site ever for moderately priced natural skin care. Its called Yves Rocher, and it is just excellent. They have low shipping rates, they ship quickly, offer credit, and always send free stuff with each order. The link is: http://www.yvesrocherusa.com/shop_app/app_US/jms.jsp I hope you enjoy.

Also, I use reflect.com and sephora.com and have been really happy with both. At reflect.com, they allow you to create and customize your own products, and I am now the proud owner of three lines of fragrance, and one facial scrub.
There are two magazines I'd like to mention because they are the best womens magazines on the planet when it comes to beauty products, as they do indepth reviews on many, many products. These are "In Style" and "Allure". plus, I love to get lost in the beautiful pages....:)

I am going to post a few recipes for the bath products I make, and those will follow in just a moment.

LOL, is this a case of too much information, or what???

OK, here are a few recipes, and I have to say, these have turned out nicely. I sell these in consignment shops, and I also make candles and I compile it all into gift baskets that I give to others.
Fist are a few soaps, and these are all glycerin based. I can also post a little background on getting started with making glycerin soaps, but I will only if someone is interested, OK?

Recipes
Oatmeal Vanilla Honey Soap

2 c. soap base
1/4 c. oatmeal (processed)
1 Tbsp. dry milk (processed)
5 drops vanilla fragrance oil
1 TBSP. honey

The honey in any recipes acts as a natural colorant and will darken immediately and will continue to darken over a day or two.
When you pour soaps that have oatmeal, the oatmeal will settle in the bottom of the mold. Therefore, only one side of the bar will have the oatmeal, this side is good for use as an exfoliant. If you want the oatmeal dispersed through out the soap, you will have to pour a little at a time, let harden and then pour more. This is also the way to make layered soaps.

Lavendar Blossom

3 c. soap base
3 drops blue food coloring
3 drops red food coloring (to desired shade of lavendar or purple)
1 TBSP DRIED lavendar blossoms
8-12 drops Lavendar Essential Oil

Vitamin E Bar
2 c. soap base
1 TBSP Vitamin E oil or several Vitamin E gel caps, crushed
1 TBSP aloe vera gel
Fragrance of choice

*great for sensitive and really dry skin

Sweet Slumber
*This is a most special recipe of mine...dont pass it around!

3 c. soap base
3-4 drops blue food coloring
3-4 drops red food coloring
12~16 drops Lavendar Essential oil
6~8 drops Neroli (derived from orange blossoms)
4~6 drops Vanilla Fragrance Oil
1TBSP Lavendar Blossoms
*3-4 drops Chamomile Essential Oil

*Optional

Cucumber and Seaweed

2 c. soap base
1/2 sheet Nori (seaweed) cut into 1/2" or (smaller) pieces
12 drops Cucumber Fragrance Oil
1 TBSP Cucumber Juice

Puree the cucumber in a food processor, remove solids and reserve juice.
Men and women love this one!

Other bath Products:

Honey Walnut Scrub
1/2 c. Ground Walnuts
1 T Jojoba
1 T. Peach Kernel Oil
1 T. Honey

Use paste as exfoliant for hands and feet. Larger quantities can be made for all over use.

Salt Glow
1 bag Epsom Salts, processed
About 16-20 oz. of any oil such as vegetable oil, sunflower oil, olive oil, though add only a little at a time, until you get a mixture that can be spread without falling apart...a paste is what you're going for.
12-16 drops Lavendar essential oil
10 drops vanilla fragrance oil
6 drops Neroli or Orange oil

Any fragrance choice can be used, these are my favs. This is an all over scrub to use before a bath or shower. Massage into skin, let sit for a few minutes, use an exfoliator when bathing to remove. I also keep some by the sink in the kitchen and bath for hand washing.

Oatmeal Milk Bath
1 package dry milk ( 1 envelope)
3 c. oatmeal, processed finely
fragrance(s) of choice.

This is excellent for skin irritations and dry skin. Use about a cup per bath. Add under the running water to assist in dissolving.

Fizzy Bath Salts
2/3 c. baking soda (can increase to add more fizz)
1/2 c. citric acid (can increase to add more fizz)
1/2 cornstarch
1/2 c. oat starch
1 c. goats milk or buttermilk powder
2. sea salt
Mica
Essential Oil diluted in 2-3 T carrier oil.

Mix dry ingredients and Mica. Knead in enough oil just until moist but still loose and crumbly. Allow to air dry. Store in a glass jar. Sprinkle enough in water to fizz you away.......

Thanks!:)

Thanks intrigued. I would love more info on "getting started." I've always wanted to try making my own soaps, but never had the nerve.

This is a fun thread!!! THANK YOU!

I love to take those long, soaking bubble baths in a candle lit room, good music playing (Andrea Bocelli is GREAT for bath time!!!), a glass of my favourite wine. To really feel special, I spend way more money than I should at Bath & Body Works....you HAVE to get the "sugar srubs" they have!!! It's a mixture of sugar and oils that you rub all over your skin and when you rinse if off....OMG!.....you feel so incredibly smoothe and sexy!! (Men love how you feel, too!!!) Another thing I do just for myself is wear sexy underwear...even if I'm in sweats and a t-shirt. Underneath, you'd think I was on my wedding night! :)

Let me see... this isn't your typical beautifying session, but I'm taking notes of all you ladies wrote, I don't do much in the way of primping, but I indulge in other pleasures...as you will see.

I roll over to see my loves face in slumber, I lean over and kiss his beautiful mouth before I slip from the warmth of our bed, slipping into my Silk and Satin's charcoal grey bathrobe that is satin on the outside, but warm, soft fuzzy terrycloth on the inside. I pad my way to the kitchen for a cup of HOT, BLACK coffee and I sit out on my porch to watch the sunrise. Tossing off the robe, I do warm up stretches in the nude, with the early morning breeze blowing in from the window.

I slip into my best pair of shoes...a well worn pair of nike runners and the pup and I hit the pavement running. I prefer to run on trails rather then road, so we go under the highway and run along the banks of the river.

Out of breath, and drenched in sweat I slip as quietly as I can back into the condo. There I down a bottle of water, (I find nothing is as good for my skin as consuming large amounts of water). A fresh coffee mug in hand I make my way to the shower, where things get a little steamy...I mean HOT. I like to start out with very hot water, then turn it cool just before I am ready to step out. In the shower I scrub from head to toe with Dove Body Wash - shaving, washing and rinsing. I use Herbal Essence shampoo that smells like honey and I cream rinse with the matching scent. Stepping out, I grab the biggest, fluffiest, fresh smelling towel (that I insist are JUST for company use) and with a pleased, but critical eye I examine my body top to bottom, front to back in my full length mirror. I rub Perry Elise, Channel 5 or Oscar de la Renta body lotions on me depending on what scent I want during the day. I take extra care with breasts, belly, bottom and thighs (can anyone REALLY avoid stretch marks?) On goes a coat of nail hardener and out comes the toothpaste. I scrub my face with Mary Kay exfoliating face wash, and I sooth it with a cooling, Mary Kay moisturizer.

Padding into the bedroom, I smile at my love as he passes me on the way to the bathroom, grinning as he double takes and rubs his sleepy eyes to realize that I really AM strutting freshly pink cheeked nude. To the undies drawer, I remove a set of satin, ( I will never were silk and EVERYTHING must match) then on come an old, well worn, soft, fresh pair of wranglers. I love the feel of them...and I'm proud of the way they fit. Next, a soft, light weight cotton button down, or perhaps a tank top. And for the final pleasure... I lace up my ropers, kiss my love goodbye, grab a cornmeal muffin, a mug of coffee and hit the road.

My day is full of self-indulging pleasures, the smell of hay as I walk to the barn, the sight and sound of my beauties nickering a morning greeting as I doll out their feed. There is just something about being OUTSIDE...I never feel as healthy as I do when I am out working on the farm.

Obviously I don't do the conventional beautifying and primping...I'd like to, but I can't seem to find a happy medium of ranch work/ professional. For me, beauty is about lifestyle, a healthy, caring of my body though physical activities and cleansing.

Well, thank you, I appreciate your interest. :) now that I make my own, I seldom buy other soaps, these are just too nice, and theres alot of pleasure in making it yourself. :)

Here you go:

Melt & Pour Soaps
The following is a brief description of the soapmaking hobby that I have, and that I also make a little money from. I will also include recipes that once you try, you'll never want to buy commercial soaps again. Well....maybe.

Glycerin soap base is sold in blocks of 5 lbs. and larger. To melt the soap base, slice off sections in thin slices and then cube these slices in very small pieces so that they will melt quickly. Before you begin a recipe, have all ingredients measured and ready to be added as the glycerin will set quickly. To melt, place in a large microwave safe bowl or measuring cup and heat at 30-45 second intervals, stirring each time you check it. Once completely melted, you can begin to add ingredients.
You may purchase commercial dye chips for color or you may use liquid food color. (I like these because you can blend quickly and with the dye chips you have to wait for them to melt.) I always add color first so that all remaining ingredients will then be incorporated into the color easily.
Natural additives such as botanicals (dried herbs, flower buds, etc.) can be added. Also, oatmeal, dry milk and loofah can be added, but must be processed first to a powder like texture, though the oatmeal can be a little less processed as it is a natural exfoliant if left a little on the rough side. There are many additives available such as clay, beeswax and moisturizers.
You can now add fragrance and this is avalilable in both Pure Essential Oils and in Fragrance Oils, which are synthetic. Ofcourse, the essential oils are better therapeutically and last longer, though some fragrance oils smell nicer and have a stronger scent. Essential Oils are also quite pricey. I always add the oils last because if you need to reheat the glycerin from it setting too quickly, you can still do so up to this point. The essential oils lose much of their properties if heated.
Next you simply mix all ingredients together and pour into your molds. I use drawer organizers for my loaf molds and they work wonderfully. They are plastic, are available in several sizes and are very cheap. Once you pour the soap, quickly spray (from a distance of atleast 12") an undiluted solution of alcohol on the top of the soap, this will prevent air bubbles from settling on top of the soap. Once the loaf sets for about 30 minutes and is pretty solid, place it in the freezer for 10 minutes and then remove from mold, and slice into bars. The same process applies to individual molds.

After the soaps are removed from the mold, you need to wrap them in either cellophane or plastic cling wrap. I have found that if you are planning to sell them, you should use the cling wrap because it emits the scent of the soap and the cellophane does not. (Customers want to be able to smell the soap before they buy it.....)

If you have questions, feel free.....:)

I meant to add that before you begin, always have everything ready, all ingredients measured, because glycerin sets quickly and you will have a hard time if you take the time to measure as you go, etc. The order I use for mixing is:
Melt the base, add the color, add natural ingredients, and then your scent. Always add the scent last because if the glycerin has set too quickly to work with and you need to reheat it, if the scent is already added, you will lose a great deal of it reheating.

When I stated that some ingredients need processing, I am referring to the use of a food processor.

Enjoy!:)

Yay...

Thankyou so much. Don't be surprised if I pm you for help sometime in the near future.

Well the only thing I've really treated myself to is a couple of manicures. However, last week I finally worked up the nerve to treat myself to a new hair style. I got a new colour (covers the gray), a scalp massage(absolute heaven) and my hair cut the shortest I've ever had it in my life. Figured I finally deserved something different for a while.
