That is fine if that is what you want to do, but I will never hold it against a woman if she doesn't know how to fix her car or at least find out what is broken. But a man who doesn't know that stuff was ridiculed where I grew up. I am from the South, where men were used to travelling long distances alone or working in field with a tractor by himself. There is something to be said for a man who is self reliant and can overcome any mechanical difficulties. Now your example of a water pump is something that requires a new part and then a man should either call for his own assistance or walk to the nearest phone. It is just crazy in this day and age to expect someone to stop and help a single adult male on a deserted road, too many things can happen, none good. I salute your mechanical ability, but women have earned the right in my opinion to expect help from men when things break.
