Oh my god do it for me!!! I would love to read this. There's so much sexual tension between friends in the beginning of the story. I would favorite this story right away. Have you started? If she walks out of his life the story would be painfully tragic. But he is married. What kind of drama will all of this cause?

I'd make the basic story flow like this: I'll assign names to make this easier to write
Him - Jake: Handsome, confident and very smart. Studying for some sort of advanced degree. Maybe even wants to be a doctor.
Her - Lisa: Also smart, but kind of geeky. Very cute, but wears glasses and doesn't care much to be in style. Maybe a bit of a late bloomer.
In the beginning at the university Jake and Lisa become friends through having classes together. Maybe they are lab partners in a class and in subsequent semesters Lisa works very hard to sign up for classes with Jake and also be his lab and project partner over and over. Lisa secretly loves Jake, but is afraid to tell him because she doesn't think she can take the rejection id he doesn't also love her. Jake likes Lisa and being with her makes him really happy, but he thinks he wants to marry the cheerleader type.
They graduate and stay in touch. Jake dates cheerleader types and discovers that they are self centered, superficial and financial needy. During this same time Lisa is dating one man and gets married. In their letters they tell each other what is going on in their lives and share some things that are fairly intimate. During this time Lisa outgrows being geeky.
A few years later they are still writing letters. Jake has finally married a beautiful cheerleader type that is maybe less superficial that the others. Jake is open with his wife about his writing letters to Lisa and Jake's wife is OK with it. Lisa has always hidden the letters form her husband because she was once in love with Jake and doesn't think he will understand.
Lisa's husband discovers the letters, blows up and ends their marriage. Lisa takes a trip and sees Jake (at a symposium or something). At first Jake doesn't recognize her because she is no longer the geeky girl he once knew. Her biological clock is ticking and she wants Jake to make her pregnant. Lisa is afraid to approach him because she knows he is married.
Jake finally recognizes her when he by chance hears her talking to someone and they make plans for dinner or something. Lisa broaches the subject of wanting a baby. They discuss the medical options and she blurts out that she just wants him to make her pregnant.
Jake agrees after a lot of offers form her and convincing. (The offers are for things his lovers and wife would never do) They spend the week together and the sex they have together is the most passionate and beautiful sex ever.
At the end of the week Jake realizes that he is in love with Lisa and always has been. He realizes that he was a fool to marry purely based on looks like he did. Now Jake has the issue of being in love with Lisa and not being able to profess his love to her.
Lots of endings could come out of this. They could continue writing and the letters get more intimate between them. Maybe she doesn't get pregnant or somehow loses the baby. Jake's wife finds out he was with her (maybe some of her under garments end up in his suitcase). Lots of tension and questions if they ever be together or not.
In the end they have to be together, but they each have to give up something that is really important to them to be together. (The steep price of true love)
