We don't live in the past. We live in the here and now.

Recognize her achievements, celebrate them, but unless you have committed unforgivable acts, a person is what they do today. She has used her athleticism and greatness to define her, and quitting is her most recent act.

She was tested and it broke her. I feel sorry for her. I feel extra sorry for her because she was representing America. The idea and appeal of the Olympics is that it has always been bigger than the individual competing. The glory belongs to the celebrated individual, but everyone feels pride when our colors soar the highest. She had to accept the good truth with the bad truth.

As I said, I wanted this thread to be able to address anyone on the issue of quitting and how Woke America now says it's okay to be a quitter, but peckersniffer wouldn't allow that to happen, so I had to bring her name in. I would have preferred not to, but that's life when you're dealing with myopic people on a forum filled with anti-social personalities who are also obsessive.
