Wow, you have just named some of my most fav. poets ~ :D

:rose:

Think you forgot ...

Angeline, annaswirls, BooMerengue, denis hale, eagleyez, flyguy69, Maria2394, neonurotic, Tathagata, The_Fool, and WickedEve. Think they also helped build the place eh ~
If not, at least pitched in and glued some of the cracks together.

;)

Some come and go.
Looking forward to seeing more writes,
and commentary from all our Fav's ~ :)

Did not forget, most seem to be around doing well AND/OR not catching too much grief. True, they helped build the place AND the writing is the most important part.
But, the place is woefully short of the sort of like...
...Lu Chi :D
...the ones that think things through and that will tell you why. Fearless in the face of numbers.
I forgot Reltne.

I owe you ...

I liked you better when I could see your six pack abs. I mean, that is a pretty nice ass for an angel, but it is still an angel.

While you two have your merits....

Ridiculous

To think that this place's success can be laid at the feet of just a few is egocentric. A few of those you mention are good some ,mediocre at best, and have attitudes that inspire themselves. There are also MANY other writers that contribute in a tremendous way to the site. MyEroticTail, RhymeFairy, Quietpoet , Lebroz , Vampiredust, and many more come to mind. If this thread is about playing favorites, fine, but state it as such. NONE of the poets on lit will truly qualify as great, or they wouldn't be posting their poems here. You are just a mean spirited dwarf swimming under the bridge of venom...

oh damn, Fly, we are NOT smart or interesting enough for the dead snail special recognition list!!

hmm where is the weeping uncontrollably emoticon?

I still love you Snail boy (girl, whatever you are) but am not really interested on being on anyone's thumb's up list, if you even had thumbs. You seem like a clever snail. I have the urge to pat your little head, watch those eye stems suck in one at a time, that is so cute. :)

well I am not sure what you mean as truly qualify or great, but
sweetie, while you make some sense that is where you are wrong :) or at least where I disagree....

I dont know what this thread was for, but there have been many many many threads like it. This place is all about slapping backs and kissing butt and making people feel good. That is not a bad thing, people are allowed to have their opinions of others and shower affection on their favorites without worrying about hurting feelings of those who missed the shower :)

I am just playing with the snail because it is fun. I have some salt and water, trying to decide whether I feel in a hypo or hypertonic mood this morning (don't worry I won't let any real damage occur)

...speaking of mean spirited dwarfs, and venom, these people I mentioned above are often attacked by...guess who? I was wishing them well. Where is Senna, btw?

I don't for a minute think its about patting anyones back...

We already have that thread..which by the way is a good one.

I believe its this a snail male attempt to poke fun at Art and others who try to encourage the mass of poets to post and have an enjoyable time doing so...and to say one poet is better than another is pompous and ego driven....much like the current government we have in office...my way all the way...HEIL HITLER...
sorry anna ...I think a huge number of poets are awesome...including you...Quiet poet just riled my feathers this morning on this Nazi thread...ty blue

Your butt I would think about, as far as slapping backs, I'll do that for you and fly.
I agree with blue I don't think ANYONE HERE is great, but some of them ARE DAMN GOOD, and SOME will become great.

Poem to selling out...

Battle Over???

Buried within thinly veiled propaganda,
an almost silent mouseclick reveals
hidden assurances, binding believers
in political unity, convinced.
Coulteresque venom spews forth
in condemnation of freedom, overlaying
truth of choice with diabolical vitriol.

You stand and watch, convinced that
safety resides within wheeled metal caskets,
squeeking in a WalMart parking lot.
246 channels corrals thought, crushes
resistance, neuters hope, while real options
shrink like microwaved Saran Wrap.

Difference is our freedom, multicolored,
multicultural, frozen within stains of perpetual
bombardment by corporate interests
and religious-political negativists.
Shiny, stainless steel hook quietly released
in multifilamented spreads, swallowed whole,
unknowingly we await the crank of the right.

I'm not arguing for my inclusion in a list. Merely pointing out your valentine to yourself.

What exactly is the point of this thread?

I'm of the opinion that there is nothing wrong with praising another poet (with reason and logic). To say that praising one while not praising another is rude/unkind/callous/etc. is a bit like wishing for a Harrison Bergeron-esque society. We are all at different points with our poetry, and to recognize those who write and critique well isn't mean-spirited (again, in my opinion).

However, I find this statement frankly wrong:

NONE of the poets on lit will truly qualify as great, or they wouldn't be posting their poems here.

There are poems on this very board better than any I've read in well-known literary journals.

I don't mean to be inflammatory. It just seems like this is argument for argument's sake. If he wants to say good things about people, why is that bad?

Two birds, one stone: Thank you for the comment on my poem, anna. :)

Figures

I totally agree with the NONE portion. Come on, this is a "creative" porn site. While there are some very good poems, and poets here, any poet whose work is published regularly would only use this site to post those poems which are prurient in nature, AND then only under an alias.

I have personally won contests, been published, read publically often, to some moderate acclaim, but I know that I am not great, and will most likely never reach that lofty perch. While a good poet may write a few excellent poems, it is consistency over the long term (IMHO), that separates good from great.

This site is a fun lark, where most of us get too serious about ourselves, too often. The difference between the best here and the majority is not a whole lot. Let's just have fun and be creative!

Then why is there an entire category for non-erotic poetry, with well over 15,000 poems posted in it?

My whole point of that statement

Is ...I have the freedom to say what I do or do not think about any poem or poet...I don't like this thread that plays high school games to bring a thought pattern of ideals that seem right to the author...thus I said the phrase just the way I wished it to be...what seems mediocre to me may be grand to another and the other way round..this thread is a childish effort to choose who is inclusive and who is exclusive...is this not how religion works...and other means of power play as well...anyone who is excludes one over another is in fact...MORPHING...enough said...

Either you purposely misunderstood what I said, or my meaning was unclear.

Either way, have a good day.
