If wishes were water...
...would we drown ourselves in an ocean of our own excess?

Is it just me, or does "wish" seem like a really strange word the more you say or use it?

If somehow wishes could be granted, what would you wish for? Could you think of something right off, or would you need some time? Would it be a thing? Would it be an event? Would it be a person? An achievement perhaps? Would you wish for recognition? Would you wish for world peace?

That last one brings up a good point. If you could wish for any one thing, would you waste that wish on yourself, or would you have the maturity and conscience necessary to use that wish for the good of everyone?

Just think about it for a moment. Let's forget the details, the "hows" if you will, and just pretend that we were allowed that one wish, that one magical wish. How would you use it?

I would wish for....

Inner peace for everyone. What a world it would be,then!!

I guess I haven't really answered the question about what I would wish for, if I were given the chance today. Maybe I'd wish for all the questions I've ever had to be fully answered. Maybe I'd wish for a great body that could never get fat, no matter what I eat.

But what about the things that happened in the past? If I were granted a single wish, maybe I should wish for the opportunity to go back and set right what once went wrong? But where would I go?

The thing is, despite the way I feel from time to time...there's just nothing I want badly enough to wish for anymore. I am content. I am even, on occasion, quite happy.

Patience is a symptom of contentment, too, I think. I'm in no real hurry. I've only lived 1/2 of my potential life span, given the longevity of many of my relatives. I still have time to gain knowledge, love, and a body that doesn't jiggle when I walk.

So, I guess that's what it all comes down to now. Once upon a time, I used to wish.

Now, I just wait.

Only if we got carried away on waves of selfishness.

Hehe.. this is one of those little "phenomenons" that we learn as children... it applies to any word.. seriously. Try it and you'll see. Here's a start: grammar grammar grammar....

I would need time for most things but right off the bat I know what my first one would be... but it's truly impossible, truly. *sigh* It is a sad one.. I don't want to ruin anyone's day...
Anyway, the best ones take time, thought, detail. Detail is hugely important, especially if these are "genie-style" wishes... meaning, there could easily be a "catch," and that our words are open to a great degree of interpretation. In order to at least attempt to get past that, a minimum of two criteria must be met. First, the wish must really be worth the risk, at least a little risk... sort of the "no pain/ no gain" theory. Second, all factors must be considered. One must think with an open mind and essentially read through their words the way that someone other than themself would. Am I making any sense? I am worried that I am sounding repetitive here... haha.. .I am making the same point, again and again.

What you wish for says a lot about who you are, assumably.

World Peace would be fabulous yea sure.. but that is still pretty general... how can we enjoy world peace without "inner" peace first?

Tough question... again, as stated above... it's going to take sometime, and sense I have probably just killed the thread with my ceasingly endless babble that no one is even going to read... I will leave it at that. *sigh*

Anyway, you never said what YOU would wish for mr. thread starter.
Well, off to work!
