...are a pain in the arse. (not to be taken literally)

I wish they were all out already. *groaning*:(

LittleDevil...go to the dentist and get some goooooodddd pills!!! Unless you can get right in to the dentist... most will write you a script to get you by. There is NO reason for you to be in pain. I advise to get them out asap. I have had one out and need the other three to be gone... so I feel your pain.. my heart goes out to you.

Pills etc

La Huesera, I'm lucky enough to already have REALLY strong painkillers on hand. I also had one wisdom tooth removed 3 years ago which took them 2.5hrs because my jaw is too small (so they said). The one that is coming out for all its worth now is growing "straight" so it is just a matter for it actually coming through (which is painful enough).
I'm due to have my other (lower) wisdom tooth removed in summer - this time under general anaestethic mind you.

:)

Wisdom teeth

Its pretty standard practise in the US to yank em out around the
21st birthday.

so that tells you what I did...

god everything tasted of cloves for about a month and a half.

hang in there!

If i have to listen to how they chiseled and broke my jaw in the 2.5hrs (miraculously I ended up with 11 stitches in mouth, and yes, this was just 1 tooth) I'll scream. And I mean it.

I Do feel your pain! Mine are scheduled to be out Feb. 5th.
I don't know which will hurt most, the surgery or the bill.

Did they knock you out last time? I was awake the whole time for my first extraction.
Good luck to you. I hope they knock you out!

I have a little advice too, This time take a firm hold of their balls(if it's a man) or their left boob( if it's a woman). When it starts hurting, you start twisting! LoL

:D

LOL @ firm hold... I had a surgical cloth over my face so I couldn't see anything apart from the tube running under my nose that sucked all the blood and bone fragments out of my mouth....

I only had a local anaestethic last time - but next I'll so definately go for a general one. Mind you, keeping my mouth open for 2.5hrs was a good training for future long time blow jobs ;)

Why weren't you sent to an oral surgeon? I'd find me a new dentist.. Yours sucks..

I had mine out about 2 years ago due to two of them abcessing at the same time over a weekend.

I had the opportunity to observe my wifey having some of hers out just recently and I made her furious because I was laughing my ass off all the way home.

When she demanded to know what the hell was so funny, I told her I had just realized how I looked to her 2 years earlier.

I don't know how she managed to keep a straight face while she lugged me out of the oral surgeons office drunk as a skunk on the anesthesia.

My wife was a riot and is still mad at me for laughing at her. :D

But I was a good hubby and took the next two days off just to be there for her. She said I would make a good man servant if I ever lost my current job. :)

I was at an oral surgeon... at the University Clinic. Phenomenal reputation doesnt help you if the back of your jaw is too small....

Wisdom teeth

I had all of mine removed at the same time, even though 2 of them weren't bothering me, one was impacted & shattered when they yanked it...I was out for the whole thing...I would find a good oral surgeon, I didn't swell up or bruise- just a little jaw pain from having my mouth open for an hour. Good luck LittleDevilWithAHalo!

Any dentist who takes out wisdom teeth using only a local anesthesia is a sadist. If it took him 2.5 hours for one tooth he was incompetent too.

Go to an oral surgeon, it's what they do all day every day. I had all four wisdom teeth taken out (two impacted, two not) at once. My appointment was at 8 am, they were done by 9. Wasn't cheap but worth every penny.

My dad a had a root resection on his upper jaw last year... for one week he looked like a friggin horse. I think I must have shot one camera film of photos of him. But I was good too and mashed up all his food :)

They said they would need about 1.5hrs for two of them (because they had to chisle deep into jaw to get them out) but then it turned out to take so long because of bloody jaw... it is not disformed or anything, I just seem to have a shorter and more fragile jawbone than most adults so they had to be extra careful that they dont chisle too much bone away. *sighs*

Wisdom Teeth and the having your period once a month are two things I could easily live without.... :)

I'm with BigDog - get yourself to a decent oral surgeon and have the whole lot out all at once. When I had my 4 done this way - no swelling - no bruising and I was eating normally in 3 days.

Sorry, the guy who did it is now dead but shit happens!

Look on the bright side...a few of mine grew back and had to be removed again!

Guys,.... thanx a lot for all your encouragement. I tried to get some sympathy off my r/l friends today but none (!!!) of them has had any problems with their wisdom teeth so far. So unfair.

(((((((hugs))))))) to all of you

: )

In my case...

I had my wisdom teeth come in and never had them removed.

There was one that came in at an angle, and I could not close my jaw. I thought I was going to have to visit the dentist, but - don't ask me how - by the next morning, it was perfectly aligned and everything was ok!

The erupting through the gums was really a pain.

They fucking grew back?!!!!!! That sucks! Didn't think that happened- I suppose it's like catching the chicken pox twice

i have read about a few medical cases where especially tonsils and appendices grew back... they reckon it is a gene that is mostly inactive in our bodies now but that survives in some of us and is basically a primary gene that regulated regrowth of amputated extremeties when we were still all primates.

It was almost worth it to see the look on my Dentist's face - the oral surgeon felt so bad for me he removed them for free

You are born with all of your teeth.. hiding up there waiting to emerge...

Most people are born with 32... some are born with 36 (this is very rare though)... some are born with less.. I was born without my lower wisdom teeth, they don't show up on xray like my upper ones did.

Bob's teeth didn't grow back. He is just one of those unlucky persons that was born with a few extra teeth. Most oral surgeons or dentists would have extracted these at the same time. For some reason his missed his extra teeth. He either didn't closely examine the xrays, or he didn't think they would ever cause problems (they may have been high up in the jaw), or he wanted twice the amount of money.

But to answer your question.. NO, Wisdom teeth don't grow back.. :)

wisdom teeth

having my wisdom teeth removed was far and away the worst medical experiance of my life... and that is saying a lot concidering the number of times i've been in the hospital.

all four were impacted. one had the roots wrapped around my jaw bone. my mouth was bruised shut for over a week.

as if that wasn't enough, i was severly over sedated. as my mom was driving me home from the oral surgeon's office i began to feel my chest getting heavy and became light headed. i was so drugged i could hardly inhale. needless to say this scared the shit out of me, but my mouth was so bruised i couldn't talk. the attempts i made at talking hurt so much and i was so scared and dizzy that i began to cry. this did not help things at all. i had to go to the emergency room and spent the night in the hospital.

it was terrible :( i am now afraid of the dentist.
