Wisconsin.GOP vote against $2000.00 Stimulus...not for the people

Once the bastion of liberal and progressive
mov't going back more than a century, Wisconsin is still suffering from the effects of GOP illegal redistricting.

That is likely to change as the GOP and Trump consistently fail the people their as the General Election has show....it is still a liberal state.

1) Liberalism is antithetical to progressivism which is inherently authoritarian....you can be one or the other, not both.

2)Wisconsin is still very liberal, that's why they are still largely a red state despite the progressives creeping in from Chicago....desperately trying to escape all the "progress" that made Chicago less livable in the first place.

You keep conflating liberalism with being a jackbooted leftist, they aren't the same thing. :D

Personally, I don't think giving checks to people who don't need them is a good idea right now. It won't really cause an enormous or sustainable stimulus payoff to the economy, and this approach does not adequately target the people, small businesses, and agencies that need the funding the most right now.

Emergency relief funds need to be directed to those who are already falling through the safety net. Not enough funding for that in this bill, so I would prefer not to give checks to people who already have adequate food, shelter, and health care. I disagree with Bernie on this, and have written to his office several times in the last couple months to say so.

Agree, but this, I think, will be alleviated to some degree by those of us who acknowledge we don't need the checks and who immediately redistribute what they are sent to local points of greatest Covid-related need. Building that redistribution list now, concentrating on the food bank, a homeless shelter, and a displaced wait staff relief effort.

Y'all can send yours to me. But I don't support the 230 mess, so ....

Well, I for damned sure don't need the check, and last time I got one that's exactly where my $1200 went.

But, when you think about the efficacy of distributing emergency relief funds, think about all the people who spend their gummint checks in ways that only benefit international corporations or only benefit their personal entertainment or gluttony. I think we need to be honest and call this emergency relief, not stimulus, and then think in the same terms that emergency relief organizations employ to get the most relief bang per buck.

This is a national emergency. Treat it that way in the most effective manner possible.

I think the stimulus bill is fairly comprehensive, and addresses quite a few of the concerns expressed here. Yes, some people don't need the $2,000, but think about how many really do. $600 was an insult to Americans. Actually, I thought another $1,200 like the Dems had proposed was about right, with an additional $500 per child. Of course Trump and the Reps had a much better replacement plan than the Heroes Act, just like they had a much better replacement plan for the ACA.

Trump's $2,000 canard, which was bald faced self serving pandering, did nothing but cause chaos and further divide the country.

Same as it ever was.

Yes, liberal Dems...I agree.

Creeping Charlie still insists it owns the copyright on the word "liberal".

Creeping Charlie also thinks people can't pejoratively call Trump a fascist when he exhibits fascist behaviors, like calling for the unwarranted jailing of Governor Kemp and others for self serving political reasons.

Grandiose and sociopathic attempts to control the conversation.

Pathetic.
