I have been waiting and waiting for someone to post a poll. Well, it is days away, and no one has. Perhaps this is why there are copiuous ads on tv, in magazines and yes, even at the cinema. My lost poll failed MIZZZerably, I am not good at it, but here it is: THE NOMINEES

WHo do you think will win, will lose, complaints, beefs, cudos or criticisms. Everything is welcome here so bitch and complain :D This is part one of whatever :D

I'll start to watch and then fall asleep, as always. It's the longest, most boring ceremony ever invented.

As usdual 3 out of 4 movies with nominations haven't even started showing here yet. Still, it's fun to see who has the most embarrassing acceptance speech.

And read the movie review on my signature. It's about one of the best movies of the year that was totally ignored by the Academy. :p

I think I missed last year, but I'm watching this year for Chris Rock. I hope he's not too toned down. Otherwise, too often the nominations and the winners are jokes. They rarely have to do with art. O, and I also enjoy watching so called 'stars' who don't even know how to walk across a stage properly, let alone dress themselves.

Perdita

They need a good hat :D

Any one of my outfit combinations I wear to the opera, only I'd get new shoes for sure. P. :)

Does one need shoes? Dare I say it depends on who one is with. JUST WHO was Cameron Diaz with the year she lost her shoes? :D

Edit: :( that was probably peoples choice dammit, but still awards :D and it was not Justin ROWR.

I'm a straight male so, I guess that would be no. (Why wasn't that an option?)

(And, though I'm tempted to see what Rock will do, I can't break my streak now.)

Predictions (you heard them here first):

one actual deserving winner,

four "you're a proper up and coming suckup so we'll give you one",

two "you deserve one after all these years since you're going to die soon",

three "we can't possibly not vote for you for political reasons",

three "this movie was in actual fact better than the others, but since we exhausted all those picks, we have to give you at least one in (choose from: best editing, best best boy, lighting, most gramatically correct script for a foreign documentary not shown on planet earth, etc.)"

Tom Hanks for best actor (what do you mean he's not in the running?)

Sixteen awards, in categories that will remain secret, passed out earlier today at an undisclosed location at a ceremony presided over by Dick Cheney to the technical wizards that actually do all the real work in making films.

and...

We've got these left over statues so we'll just pass them out alphabetically.

Oh yeah, and don't forget the homage to the troops, don't want to appear unpatriotic.

(Somebody watch it and tell me how I did.)

Guess What?

Very hetero male here who loves the Oscars.
I do admit to being a major movie buff, and to very often disagreeing with the choices the academy makes. Every once in a while they get it right ( re: Robin Williams, Good Will Hunting ) and that makes it worthwhile.

The only award I would be shocked about would be if anyone other than Jamie Foxx wins Best Actor.

mind you, some luster went out of this year for me when they managed to mostly ignore "Eternal Sunshine"

I love movies, but RARELY go to the cinema and only occasionally rent (or buy) a DVD. Haven't seen a damned thing that's nominated this year -- but I'll watch anyway to see who makes fools of themselves.

ok.. im a bit behind the times. when is it on?
if it conflicts with survivor...NO.
id watch if robin williams or john carey(sp) *gimme a break, its early*
were hosting. chris needs to be hyper and i wonder if theyll give him that freedom.
tho, to be perfectly honest, ill watch just to catch a glimpse of rene zellwenger (again sp)....goddamn shes hot...

She had me at "Hello".

But she was way too skin & bones in Chicago. I don't want to be afraid of breaking a girl...
