Windows Service Pack2 problem

The leadership (aka political admin types who mainly know only computer buzz words) are trying to force us all to install XP-SP2. I can't wait for the hissy fit when I tell them I'm still running W2Kpro.

I checked the MS site the other day and the only way you can get it is if you allow Windows to automatically update. No way, Jose.

Has anybody installed SP2 and had any problems? Installed it on the wifes desktop and after re-booting, it won't boot-up, the thing says a file is missing or corrupt. Its 'Windows root>\system32\ hal.dll.'

I don't have my XP disc with me, and I can't find that file on my laptop to copy to hers.

Help!
You should search for the file hal.dll, if you find the file uninstall it and replace it by downloading hal.dll file in the root folder C:\\Windows\System32\hal.dll replace 32 by 64 if it is 64 bits
