Economy crumbles, and people turn towards more radical solution for their problems. History has been witness during Nazi Germany, and will be again in the future.

They talk like Nazi, wave a flag like Nazi, have a salute like Nazi, want to kick out immigrants like the Nazi. Hell, they use Joseph Goebbel's book as their propaganda material. All that's left is for themselves to actually accept the term "Fascist", which they claim is an "Italian word" so it doesn't apply to the Greeks.

Toppling a democracy is not a joke these days, but the economical environment and the political instability are the catalysts that can just make it happen very easily. The Greek Police, once opposed to the nascent party, are now supporting them. They simply stand to the side while the GD members thrash Non-Greeks like Blacks and Muslims.

As of current, the party's leaders have been arrested and put before court, where they're being charged of criminal activities.

Is it the last of such organisations?

Naahhh....as long as there's economic crisis, population explosions and such, we'll get to see more of such cartoons. People keep fucking like bunnies and we'll be just alright. The situation isn't that sunny outside.

Just hope that America, or any other nuclear power, doesn't become Greece Part nth in the near future.

This is no longer about Greece any more. They are just trying to survive amidst the mess created by power-brokers.

And competing ideologies like socialism or capitalism are present in name only, in reality they are no longer implemented in their authentic form.

Collectivism and centralized w. government - this is what we're all headed towards, unfortunately

Fascism has more to do with insularity, which is less and less viable as global connectivity between citizens and education grows.

Progressive change is more the norm, though there are absolutely throwbacks and social ideals in some places that make fascism more likely and resistant to change.

We're likely to see the fall of many and the rise of some, but progress is not a friend of fascism.

Fascism is the inevitable result of socialist policies, it must come to restore a viable society.

Once the assholes are done speaking the stomachs speak, and if the stomachs fail, the hearts speak. The Greeks are now Albanians and Cubans and North Koreans.

Ask GirlSmiley - I'm only sort of a semi-guest there so she'd know more.

In my opinion, Australia and NZ have among the best social systems - and they pulled the best bits and pieces out of everything.

Take their healthcare model, for example (pretty much socialist, one might say) - universal healthcare. Compare it to the US healthcare model.
--- not saying that US doesn't surclass NZ/Au from other points of view; it's just an example.

You wish!

Fascism is a political system designed to preserve the state when the status quo is no more. Germany got Hitler when its financial system collapsed, its economic system was bled dry by the Allies, and the Communists and Social Democrats were killing each other (Stalin hated Social Democrats more than Nazis). So Hitler was elected and the chaos stopped. Francisco Franco did the same in Spain during the 30s. Its inevitable when the political parties wont cooperate. America is on the verge of fascism.

I agree with several of your points, JBJ. Just adding to that :
Fascism is the worst. end result of collectivistic (as opposed to individualistic) societies.

In collectivistic societies (and you see that a bit nowadays) the leaders claim to prioritize the well-being of the majority, aka the minorities have to be sacrificed. Best manipullation technique; cause what's a minority ? An ethnic group, an age-group, gay individuals, people who hold ideals that are not mainstream etc.? We can all be lumped into that category when it suits them.
