Will there ever be another literotica?

I remember when this place was super active. I realize that vbulletin as much as I know and love it is going out of style so I keep waiting for the next big thing but so far nothing has really happened that is quite the same.

Do you think there will ever be another or will it just fade away?

I would say the very instant someone comes up with a place that carries the anonymity without the need for payment or social media integration that has a modern interface (read, renders nicely on your phone) - Lit is gone - at least so far as these forums go.

That is so sad.

Wandering myself if there are any other places like Lit i could go to read and chat? Seems Lit goes in stages. Even myself i get burned out and could use a few days off. But i come on to get a few PM's. Sexless marriage so my only relief at this point... Met some cool people .:)

It used to have a vey active forum with interesting and enlightening discussions.

I miss that, but it seems forums in general are all shrinking.

The technical forums I used to go to are completely dead.

There was neighborhood forum that was super active for a decade and then the owner just shut it down about 4 years ago. Probably killed by Nextdoor. CSNbbs is a super popular college sports forum. But you're right . The technology forums are largely gone.

Having been a member for almost 20 years, it is my belief this site died a decade ago. It is nothing like it was. But that is what happens in the cycle of life. There will always be something to replace the old...and if there isn't...that is a statement on the product.

I was trying not to depress anyone and say that but i kind of agree though there are still a lot of active users and I still like what it is now. It just isn't anything like what it used to be.

I'm still waiting to see if there will be a replacement, but it's been quite a while now.

Oh I didn't mean it negatively...I am still here. Everything evolves...or it becomes extinct. But that leaves a niche that will be filled. I don't expect Lit to ever go back to its heyday. Think of Studio 54...you had to be there to belief the insane fun. Lit will remain for the next decade...and it is up to the active members to make it what it is.

I've been here for 11 years and it has changed a lot. I used to be on a similar forum, XNXX, and left. I went back after a few years out of curiosity and it was dead. I hope Lit doesn't go the same way. I thinks its still thriving though.

It's definitely doing much better than a lot of similar forums. :)

I wonder if it’s an age thing? Lit isn’t a hookup app. For individuals looking to get some I’m not sure Lit probably isn’t the place. I doubt it will ever pick up to what it once was but I’m not sure it will die.

The appeal for Lit has always been the stories. come for the stories then get involved in the community. I think so long as the stories are active and being viewed the site will exist but I would agree in the time i have been here the forums have taken a hit. I use a PC so the format works for me but most tech now is phone based. Much more snapchat/kik than facebook/hangouts these days.

Other issue with the forum is time delay. Most current apps have a chat feature. You go from hi to chatting. The mechanism for this forum with the PMs is antiquated and far from real time. Granted some people like it that way but I think the majority don't and vote with their feet. Who wants to wait minutes/hours/days for response?

Is there a Lit group on Discord? That's the only place I can think of that might be able to support what Lit does, but it would be require someone to be in charge as an admin and I don't know if anyone will want to sign up for that. And on Discord the member profile would definitely change.

ive been coming here on and off for about 14 or 15 years, its definitely changed and not for the better, lets hope we can turn it around

That's a neat idea

It certainly has evolved. When I joined a lot of people actually got to know you and interacted. It seems harder to interact now.

People are lamenting the loss of the forum and you're trying to direct even more people off site? Perhaps it's people like YOU who have caused a perceived downfall?

Fuck Dis whatever. Lit Thrives. Lit Rules!!!!

Lit is it!!!

I would be cool to have a discord server too though. discord won't replace a forum.

I’m sad it took me so long to find it! Came for the stories years ago but only recently started using the forums. Would have loved to see how it was when it was super active

I'm a new member here, so I don't know what it was like back than. I'll be sure to come on here and be active. I'd like to get to know others. :) I've always preferred to talk on Forums, than Facebook anyhow.

Some of the great things about Lit are also the reasons it hasn’t kept technological pace. And those things will also be the reasons that it continues to have a life. I don’t know what the interests are of the people that own this site but it would be great if they could better monetize the parts one would expect to be monetized. They could then use those funds to modernize the overall site.

There’s a lot here and in an updated package, more people would come (and the longtime users would probably want to then leave).

I think the Admins need someone like you on their staff to advise them how to breath life into this platform!
