Things I expect to see in my life-time:

Frequent, if not routine, tourists in space.

Men landing on Mars (after a return to the moon).

Computers that use biochemistry to form "organic" connections.

One big box for your Computer/TV/Radio/Satellite Receiver/Music System.

American girls will begin menstruating at age 7.

A woman will be elected President of the United States.

Electric cars will make up 35% of the cars sold in the U.S.

I Love Lucy will still be on.

There will be science labs under the ocean. I have a suspicion there already are, but they will be known.

I Love Lucy will never be topped by any other TV show. There simply never was anything as funny. Too bad :)

pretty much all in one box already....just the old computer with a TV card, radio via the internet, movies in the DVD drive and all my CDs stored and played through windows media player...

I have a headstone standing by, if you need it :D

Not happening for a 100 years.

I'm bummed about the space thing. We landed on the moon in 1969, but in my lifetime there's been hardly any big breakthroughs...and there doesn't seem to be much interest in our government in funding big space projects. We'd rather spend billions bombing the middle east or bailing out corrupt corporations. It's a shame.

Oh, I forgot one -- tomatoes will lose any flavor they still have.
That and those Washington Red apples... you know the huge shinny red ones that look & almost taste like wax? ... wait... didn't they loose thier flavor already?

no offence, but...

BULLSHIT

we can go there right now if we so choose. we just need some motivation and renewed interest in the space program. fuck, if the USSR hadn't given up on the space race, we'd have at least bases on the moon and a flag or two on Mars.

we have the technology. we also have procrastination.

The rise of a fascist corporate state in America...or at least an open one.

Computers that will render my proffesion obsolete, no matter what I pick.

Water will have to be boiled first AND paid for.

One corporation will own everything.

A pill that reduces the effects but does not actually cure AIDS that is highly addictive.

Bologna Mountain Dew as ideas dry up.

Here's why...

The left isn't interested cos there isn't any great humanitarian cause.
The Right isn't interested cos it's one great big money pit
The Private sector isn't interested cos it costs too much money, and is an extremely startup.

Frequent, if not routine, tourists in space. Oh yeah, and NASA ain't gonna have shit to do with it either. This is gonna happen sooner than one would think. As soon as they figure out the launch and recover bit.

Men landing on Mars (after a return to the moon). I don't see us going to the moon again, but Mars, yes. Say 20 years.

Computers that use biochemistry to form "organic" connections. Bet all your money on this one. The first company that does this well is gonna be like IBM back in the 40s, buy stock.

One big box for your Computer/TV/Radio/Satellite Receiver/Music System. Change big box, to little box.

American girls will begin menstruating at age 7. I know you were not joking, and you are probably right.

A woman will be elected President of the United States. Bet she isn't White.

Electric cars will make up 35% of the cars sold in the U.S. I'd go with an electric hybrid, like that one car, I forget it's name, that is for sale now. Alternative fuel, oh yeah.

I Love Lucy will still be on. And the Simpsons too.

Oh, I bet you she is. But she might come after the first Black President.

I don't know. I really see it easier for America to accept a 'black' woman before a man. I don't know why I feel this way I just have this feeling.

Sort of like that lady who does the talk shows, I have no idea how she spells her name. Opra? America has come to accept her. We like her. We listen to her. Her color is not a threat to anyone. Anyone I know anyhow.

You could be right, I am just guessing here.

Forget electric - old hat . BMW have got and have made a Hydrogen run car - it is here now.

I want to add an "I wish it would happen before I die."

The Holodeck. I want one. You would never see me again... :D

You can't go to Mars without going to the moon first, not in any routine fashion. It's easier and a hell of a lot less expensive to make rocket fuel and oxygen on the moon and take off for its lesser gravition for an interplanetary journey.
