There have already been 550,000 drones registered with the FAA - in 9 months. That's almost twice the number of currently-registered manned aircraft.

And yes, there will be drone shipments made without a pilot watching the whole time - the FAA knows and has conceded this. It's the reason they're coming up with an air-traffic control system. BTW, commercial auto-drone testing is no longer limited to Washington state (Amazon) - companies like Chipotle are already flying at Virginia Tech.

Get ready to get buzzed...

Keep your underwear on.

And pull the shades if you're going to do that.

Drones are generally cheaper than manned aircraft.
I'm sure everyone would love to own a real plane/helicopter/assorted other, but it isn't really possible.

It's only a short matter of time before military drones begin carrying out the political assassinations of enemies of the state right here on US soil.

You could be sleeping in bed and your next door neighbor's house gets blown up by a missile because he publicly criticized the government in a post on his social media account.

With today's high technology, why send a death squad to murder political enemies when you could just use autonomous machines to do the job?

Furthermore, machines don't have a conscience, cannot tell the difference between right and wrong, and will instantly obey absolutely any order without question.

It's an over statement. Will there be some increase in volume, sure. Though, the laws of physics still apply. A battery operated drone won't have the capacity to deliver 20 lb packages 30 miles and more. At some point the practicality of the idea becomes lost.

I'll keep my 12 gauge loaded. If one buzzes too close, I might bag me a drone for dinner. (Hopefully, it'll be delivering groceries to somebody down the street).

Someone will have to be hurt by one of these before we see more rules in place. And that will happen eventually. (Kinda like when they finally put up a guardrail on dead-man's curve after the mayor's kid is the third in a year to take a header into the ravine.)

I own 4 of those little bastards and 2 big ones. Watching you from up high. :D
