Oh what the hell, here's another stupid show-bizzy thread -- let's make it a daily trifecta why don't we?

I'm in my local Studio City supermarket yesterday, and some guy is smiling at me across the Red Delicious apples. I look at him, like, "What?", and he nods over towards the vegetables to a good looking guy and says, "Will and Grace almost took my cart."

I see that the guy he's nodding at is the dude who plays Will on "Will and Grace" (whatver his name is), and I suppose they both reached for the same empty cart or something.

But what struck me is that he didn't call him "that dude from Will and Grace", but he referred to him as "Will and Grace".

Do you ever do that? Do you ever want to mention an actor's name, but can't think of it, so you just use a film or TV show he's done as if it were a legit pronoun replacing his name?

"Hey, isn't that 'Ocean's 11' over there?"

"Remember that time we saw 'Gilligan's Island' in the Mall?"

"Yo! Dukes of Hazard! How about an autograph?"

Nope. I always use "that guy from..." or "that girl". The show's not their name, just like their character is not their name. There's a huge difference between what a person does and who they are.

What's a trifecta?

Makes you wonder if anyone ever saw Linda Lovelace at a mall and yelled out "Hey, Deep Throat!" It'll turn some heads, that's for sure.

And "trifecta" is also a betting system. But, yeah, it basicly meant he has three threads about celebs.

I always try to use their real name, if I can't think of that then I use their character name. If I can't remember that I just don't say anything :D

My family owned video stores... Use to drive me insane when a customer would come in and say "you know that new movie, with that guy?" "you know the guy from that movie with the girl" "The girl was in that other movie with this other guy" "I'm not sure of the name or the plot of the movie but it was advertised on tv a few months ago" "the guy is blonde, well he is in the movie but I've seen him in other movies where is was bald" "you know which one I'm talking about right?"

jeeeeeeeez..

LOL

I've seen people like that in video stores -- talking like there are only 10 movies in the world. "You know! That guy!"

Thanks again. I appreciate it. I opened Adope Photoshop... it scared me.. so I closed it again. Maybe I'll try again in another year or so :D

The Dude From Sci Factor In The Food Flipping Basics The Other Day!

The Youngish Guy With The Gray Hair, Pretty Handsome In A Weary Kinda Way I Suppose...

I Immediatly Said To My Kid, " Hey! There's The Sci Factor Dude!"

I Said It Kinda Loud And Looked Right At Him, He Saw Me And I Thought Bout It And Just Wandered On Without Bringing More Attention Than I Already Had:)

Sides It's Not Like I Could Walk Right Up Ta Him Without Knowing His Actual Name!

WILDER: "What do you mean 'Kill the actors'? You can't kill the actors? Actors are people!"

MOSTEL: Oh yeah? Did you ever eat with one?

Glad you liked the AV FG. Open PS ASAP OK? CU later!

DCL

I sometimes use thier char name, but not the name of the show. Like, hey, Isn't that Ross from friends?

That would just be weird, to say, hey, look, its Friends!
