Amazon may make a bigger move into physical stores this year, according to one analyst.

Loup Ventures' Gene Munster is predicting the internet e-commerce company will buy Target in 2018.

"Amazon believes the future of retail is a mix of mostly online and some offline. Target is the ideal offline partner for Amazon for two reasons, shared demographic and manageable but comprehensive store count," Munster wrote in a post on Monday. "As for the demographic, Target's focus on mom is central to Amazon's approach to win wallet share."

Sears

Amazon could steal Sears/KMart for a song and enjoy A type locations. Target doesn't always have the top locations. :)
You could throw Penny's into that equation also.

Another guy trying the prediction racket. Amazon will probably buy some other retail outlet, and then he can say he was nearly right.

Amazon could probably pick and choose what Penny's or Sears locations they
wish. Think how many shopping malls that Penny 's is on one end and Sears
is on the other. Most Targets that I know of are not in as good a location as
the Sears and Penny's. :)

I read the prediction. The guy makes predictions. They're not always good predictions. Sad.

One may speculate endlessly about what (if anything) Jeff Bezos will buy, and why. Yes, Target stores seem less well situated than Sears / KMart properties, or Penny's, which mostly have existed longer. But would Amazon profit trying to run brick+mortar stores, or might Bezos be thinking of the McDonald's game?

McDonald's is a real estate company, not a food chain. They make money leasing sites to franchisees. A purchase of KMart / Sears would acquire LOTS of prime locales to be used... how? What could they be besides retail space Amazon doesn't need?

Watch for Amazon to buy McDonald's. You heard it here first.
