Cancer is beast I won't wish on anyone. May she have a successful treatment and a full recovery.

I have a sister who had emergency cancer surgery on Saturday, scheduled and performed at very short notice--and in an oversubscribed hospital because of COVID and the failure of people to vaccinate. My overriding thought was that, despite people like DeSantis and the board Trumpettes, other people managed to take care of her under trying circumstances forced and worsened by people like DeSantis and the board Trumpettes. And she wasn't even a governor's wife. They, of course, get to go to the head of the line no matter what their governor spouse is doing.
Randall Munroe's wife is a breast-cancer patient*, and he has done several interesting xkcd cartoons on the subject.
*I will not call her a breast-cancer "survivor," because, as the toons make clear, such a patient never reaches a point where she can say the disease is over and done with.

My son-in-law works at a very large VA hospital. He was taken off the day shift as an anesthesia specialist and now works nights doing nothing but intubations for COVID patients, almost exclusively on unvaccinated vets who mostly get transferred to his large regional hospital from red states.
Day shift is not doing anything that can be considered elective, and they are now short-staffed for the emergency stuff. Because of his exposure to the most infected of the infected, my SIL has to get tested for COVID every other day.
And you are right, the rich go to the front of the line. The poor get peppered with questions about their insurance coverage and then often get delayed for as long as possible.
