When I post a story, I get to choose a single category (BDSM, Lesbian Sex, Mind Control, etc.) for that story. Are there technical reasons for this restriction? I can easily imagine a story that could be just as comfortable in the BDSM category as in NonConsent.

From a website organization perspective, I expect that each story sits in a file somewhere, with hyperlinks to it from various other areas such as "New", "Top Lists", etc. So I don't see a technical problem to having multiple links to the story from the lists for more than one category. (Of course, the submission software would have to be modified to use a list of buttons one could select, instead of a single drop-down menu from which one picks a single item. This can't be all that hard -- can it?)

We thought of that when we designed the system, but couldn't think of a way that the reader would be benefitted by having all the stories listed in multiple categories. Doing so negates the benefit of categories IMHO. If you have a story with many themes, then categorize it in the most appropriate category and then put the other themes in the keywords.

I have been considering suggesting that each story be given a primary and secondary category if they apply. I haven't done so because I know it would require a major revision of the database and there are other improvements ahead of any new suggestions.

The reason I've been considering this suggestion is because many of the incest stories are also nonconsent, Lesbian, or Gay Male stories and I have no way of telling that until I get into the story. Likewise, there are a few group sex stories that are also incest; A few Loving Wives stories that are also Lesbian; Etc.

Sometimes, it takes two categories (or more) to define a story so the reader can identify whether it is something they'd be interested in. Unfortunately, the keywords aren't accessible except to the search function so browsing the new stories list can't take advantage of them. Displaying the keywords after the blurbs might be a decent compromise with little programming required.
