Why the difference in views?

The link was copy and pasted incorrectly and I can't find you on the search so specifics are hard. It could be as simple as where the story ended up on the New Stories page.

Or maybe you've been cursed. *eerie music from nowhere*

Could be the categories. Some get lots of readers, others get very few.

The stories, Lucky and Day Work were posted on the same day and in the same category. It probably took a while for the former to get its H (congrats, btw), so that's probably not the reason either (as a general rule, those stories will attract more readers).

So my guess is it has to do with either the placement, like FK said, or the title and description. Personally, if I saw them side by side, I would tend to click on the second - Day Work - Motorcycle drifter finds day work doing chores for a farmwife - than the first - Lucky- Lucky has a bad night, till she finds a champion. The first has sexual possibilities written all over it, whereas it's difficult to figure out the second. And if I read the first and didn't like it (cause it's not your best work), I probably wouldn't click on your name to see what other stories you've written. I'd never get to the second story.

Just goes to show how important these little things are for attracting readers, huh?

Welcome to Lit!

The bottom line is that this is a "why isn't the moon made out of blue cheese?" question, isn't it? They are two different stories. From there everything about them begins to diverge.

The moon isn't made out of blue cheese?

Next thing you're going to tell me is that not everyone can grow up to be president.
