I'm sure that's true for some. But I have talked with quite a few people who are into it, and my lover and I are, and it's not about pain or the "mystery" of anal sex.
To some, it's seen as being a rather primitive act, depending on how you do it. Picture a woman on all fours and a man behind her fucking her ass, for example. And the person on the receiving end is put into a very submissive position and role. And the other person usually feels that he's in a very dominant role. I have a lot of BDSM stories (not submitted) and anal sex is used in them for those reasons.

Butt... this is my opinion! Others may get off on it for a lot of different reasons.

I agree with WickedEve. Anal sex generally does not hurt if you do it right. Now, the first couple of times will require you to take it very slow, but after you have done it awhile you should feel no pain at all. A buttplug can help you get used to it.

It's a good point you've brought up. I can think of two reasons for it.

1. People who have had anal sex might just be so used to having it or incorporating it into their lovemaking that they just include that into their stories without a second thought. I, myself, have had anal sex and to tell ya the truth, I had not noticed this trend until you pointed it out. It does seem that the majority of stories do include some reverence to the anus.

2. People who have not had anal sex fantasize about it and therefore include it into their stories because it's something they want to explore.

Unfortunately, I do not think you will see this trend go away and I'm not sure what you can do to tell if a story has anal in it beforehand.

This is true, P. B. For me to add anal sex to a story, is no more unusual than having oral sex in a story.
