Why do we do it? Take time out of our day to create something whether we put our heart and soul into, a couple hours or 10 minutes, then submit it for the world of Lit to see. Then have it ripped apart, loved or completely ignored.

It's a personal question, everyone is different. I was just curious.

Reality chex.

Because it gets that story out of my system and the Muses, temporarily, off my case. They are demanding ladies.

Once an individual story is posted on Literotica I can move on. Until it is posted, there is always just one more edit, one more plot twist, one more... Posting ends all that.

because it hurts to keep it inside...because I like the feedback, the adoration, the fans, the fame.

I post here as a convenient repository of material I don't want anyone to find on a disk in my office.

Take your meds and you wont need to write.

I keep taking the meds. I rattle every morning and evening.

They don't stop the writing urge.

Don't worry about it. It's a natural writer's condition. JBJ woldn't have any reason to understand that.

It's a diversion at work and when I'm either writing and need a break or while I'm listing on e-bay.

So pretty much it is a pleasant distraction. Plus you can;t really talk about erotic writing with just anyone. I say I write incest while I'm at the pool league it just doesn't seem to go over well.

It's also fun to stir up shit once in awhile.

I think I might be addicted to it.

"Hello, my name is Dakota Lynn and I'm addicted to writing erotica."

And now I've passed the first step toward recovery.

:D

It's a safe way of getting your love or writing erotica out there, without being judged by those that in your real life, may not be all that thrilled you do it. It's a way to be appreciated for a talent you believe you have when again it isn't expressed somewhere else.

Creative Exercise

I have always had a very active imagination, even my sexual fantasies had to have a plot. I started reading the stories on here and thought "I could do that." The actual reality of writing has been more work, but it's fun to get it out there.

I guess I post on here because I like the stories I write, I enjoy the feedback and I think that it improves my writing skills and habits for other writing.

me too, writing is an intellectual exercise i enjoy!

'hello my name is biker and i'm addicted to writing erotica!'

There are two ways I can explain this.

The first: there was an erotic fiction contest on TV Tropes, and I entered on a whim. I was the only person who wrote a story by the original deadline, so I uploaded it to Literotica instead--and it got Editor's Choice. (It also got more negative comments than every later entry combined, but oh well.) Anyways, I was completely blown away, and I decided that until I could find an audience for the stories I really wanted to write, I'd post here so as to practice my craft.

The second: I have a weird relationship with sexuality. I've never had a strong sex drive, and for reasons relating to my childhood, I hate to be touched. There was a time in high school when I thought I was a freak for not liking the Internet porn that all the boys around me loved, and since it never occurred to me to read romantic softcore porn, I instead went to weirder and weirder fetish sites, trying to find something that I was actually into. This means that I'm familiar with fetishes that, to my knowledge, have never appeared in a story posted to Literotica (CTF, cock vore, etc.)

The second is beginning to overtake the first, now that I'm figuring out how to create stories that both appeal to my sense of romance, and contain the sort of bizarre and deviant sex that draws readers' attention. It's a fun challenge to create a group of characters, then make it seem reasonable that they'd hop into bed with each other.
