A military coup is highly unlikely to ever take place in the United States, unlike a lot of places in the world.

Myanmar is a great example of the most recent military coup in countries with very weak forms of Democratic systems with concentrated powers in certain areas in their society.

It is a great case(foil) for examination of the US political crisis that is occurring in the REPUBLICAN party. So, let's be clear...

The Democrats have no crisis that is ongoing...it is only within the REPUBLICAN party at the moment.

Prior to the transition of power on Jan. 20th....aspects of the executive branch were in crisis and pushing towards authoritarian power and Facist control of the US Federal Govt and eventually, had this attempt been successful, a take over if the entire USA(Federally and also over the 50 States).

This attempted power grab failed due mostly to diffuse power over co-equal branches of government and a standing order that the military has no role in settling domestic political disputes.

The coup failed in the USA and this mov't and it's supporters are dramatically diminished (not gone) as of today.

Our system of government, our Constitution and our way of life here in the USA works and works well.

A few take aways...just because you don't like aspects of govt doesn't mean it doesn't work. There are plenty of things I really dislike and I absolutely love not having a despotic Humpty Dumpty take over...so I can live with our governmental short comings given some of the alternatives.

Slow govt action is not always a good thing and in the case of coups it is very important. Slow to change!

The Myanmar Democracy only existed with the consent of the military who kept important roles in the government.

The civilian government could only act on some matters without military consent and couldn't criticize the military for example for the Rohingya massacres.

The military is backed by China who doesn't want a fully functioning democracy so near.

I remember back several years ago on Lit when the resident "civil war" Deplorables were talking about how the military and law enforcement communities would support them in their violent revolution.

How did that work out recently? Well, a few of them let the rioters into the Capitol building, but most of them fought valiantly against the insurrectionists. And now, the Feds are arresting the perps.

Very similar to what happened during the leftist attempt at revolution in the late 60s and early 70s. Lock 'em up, and life in America returns to its strip malls and entertainment venues, this time with the Deplorables still whining about the "Maoist and Communist" brutes who quelled their fantasy camp version of revolution.

Biden and the progressive socialist party are committing national suicide.
