Why not BOTH Obamacare AND Trumpcare?

Why can't the medical insurance offerings include BOTH Obamacare AND Trumpcare, or neither if that's what the citizen chooses as his/her best option (do away with the 'pay the individual mandate or pay a fine' crap)? Why does Obamacare require repeal to launch Trumpcare? Everyone knows that Obamacare is not sustainable, but that doesn't mean people should face repeal of their current choice, just let the marketplace determine when it goes away. And if the individual wants no coverage, let them make that choice. If they make that decision, and later face catastrophic health care w/o coverage, they made the decision to go bankrupt, and that's a choice too.

Why on Earth should we have to delete options, why not just offer them more and better options, and if Obamacare isn't popular at the end of the day, pick from the plans left standing...

Free markets have always benefitted America by creating a competitive environment in which the price must be competitive, the offerings must be better, and the choice is up to the consumer. Single payer is just another way of saying give the government a monopoly and the average Joe no choice. Why is that in any way, shape or form what we need?

The whole free market thing has its merits but we have never had a functional health care system that can rival any other developed country's system.

Q. So if the free market applied to this subject why do we pay more, get less and have a bunch of billionaires trying to deprive us of our future?

A. Tax cuts for billionaires which will be offset by every penny they pare from the healthcare budget. It's not about freedom, healthcare or preferences; it's about trading your health and future for their greed.

The health CARE is the best in the world, which is why even Canadians come here to get it (OK, that is unless you're a hockey player). The health INSURANCE system got the government involved, which is ALWAYS a bad plan. Group health plans are still good, but the costs run up by government 'spend till you die' types have pretty well fucked up the health insurance throughout the country. Best plans are those that cover catastrophic health care, and let the consumer pay out of pocket for routine health care needs (far cheaper than insurance, and the consumer actually watches their health care costs!)

I maintain the mandate is in the wrong place. Put it on the insurers and providers. If you're licensed to insure or provide medical care, you would be required to participate in the program.

Level the Playground for all by spreading the risk to all players. Set prices for medically necessary procedures and medicines. The Pawns (us) would have a better chance of being able to afford breathing.
