Why is there fascination with cheating?

Many fantasies of posters on the forums evolve around married couples cheating. I am not trying to be judgemental here but why do you think it is?
Also, what arouses you more, a story about husband cheating on his wife with another woman? or a story about wife cheating on husband?

It is kind of like but totaly different than an incest story. It is a forbidden zone not to be approached by married adults.

Simple for me it is a cheating wife. I am a male who would not cheat. I never had a reason too. Nor would a female but I am not her so her infidelity would be a more reasonable possibility to me.

Besides the fact I am so awsome I can charm the pants off any female. I would consider a female can get laid any night she so chooses if she is at least a "4" on the 1 - 10 scale. No argument here the power of the "P" rules the world.

Next if I see a woman I want to bang I would have to "BBD" or persuade her by then I might be limp enough to focus on what is real.

If a nice looking female desides she wants a "Boink" good chance she is in control if she gets it or not.

If you disagree send a female over to me next time I will do my best to prove myself wrong promise.

One more point I do not consider it cheating if the wife and husband do extra marital affairs together.

Why do we get worked up for 'the big game'?

There is a certian rush everyone gets when they're doing something that they know contains an uncertian outcome (regardless of whether it's 'right' or 'wrong'). It can be as inconsiquential as a football game or drag racing down a street (different strokes for different folks). It satisfies a certian sense in people.

That's one way to look at why Incest and 'Loving Wives' categories are as popular as they are. They touch on that taboo essence 7inch mentioned. So long as they're contained fantasies (as opposed to acting them out), we're comfortable with the thrill they provide.

As for which (husband or wife cheats), it all depends on the scenario and how well it's set up and written. I can go either way if I'm drawn in enough.

Why so many stories about cheating....
Easy it is taboo most people in loving relationships would not put it on the line for a meaningless encounter, but stories are fiction and no one gets hurt, so those repressed fantacies we all have can play themselves out.

If you look at the top list of stories you will find most of the heavey hitters are on taboo subjects, incest, cheating, mind control, swinging etc. It is the "what if" factor played out.

As far as what is more arousing it would probally be women cheating on men. Why because men will often give in to temptation or at least are more likely to let Mr. Happy do the thinking if the right sitution happens. Women are less driven by the spur of the moment situtions. They tend to actually think things through then to react in the short turm. I know these are general statements and there are exceptions to any rule.

Flawed Ethics brings up a good point: How arousing the story is dependant on how good the writer is and has very little to do with husband or wife cheating.

The mechanics of sex are pretty much staid. At the most basic level you get pentration, motion and ejaculation. As the writer (or fantasizer) you go to great lengths to add to this basic formula and make it exciting. How you do that depends greatly on what excites you personally.

As a writer your avenues all expand from this basic precept. You can change position, active and passive partner, of orifice of choice. You can add to that with dimension, physical beauty of auxilliary parts and endowment. A level higher you can branch further with things like hair color, eye color, eithnicity, location, clothing (or lack thereof), possibility of discovery or pregnancy. Still you are working on a nuts and bolts level and while some authors choose to leave it here, basically a sex scene rendered on paper, others try to build a story around the action. It is here that you can begin to truly spice up the story adding things like experience, mood, tone, love and control. If I may use an analogy, stories are like an onion. You may be able to peel away the extras until you reach the core, which is the basic precept.

Cheating figures so prominently in requests and stories because with one concept you can add multiple dimensions to a story. At the basic level a husband and wife having intercourse is no different from the wife and the milkman doing it or the husband and his secretary doing it. The titilation is in the concept of husband and wife. The concepts of fidelity, faith, betrayal and trust add dimension to the act of having sex. In many cases the act is taboo and thus adds an even greater level of intensity.

For example:

Rod pounded his massive cock into shelly.

or

Rod pounded his massive cock into his boss's wife.

Replacing the proper name Shelly with the description his boss's wife changes the tone and the depth of the sentence. In the first you may vizualize very little, in the second you get some idea of the characters, their feelings and the feelings beyond the act. Just from using the word wife. The idea of fidelity is tied to that word in most people's perception and thus the single description of the act is painted with a depth that transcends the simple description.

I think the cheating wife has more appeal and possibilities. The perception is that men cheat more often than women. Tied to that is the "revenge" cheating a woman scorned may engage in. Also, in our society a woman risks more being caught cheating than a man and she also risks the possibility of a child being the consequence of her dalliances.

I think cheating on a basic level is little different from incest, interracial or non consensual story requests, in that it seeks to add a "forbidden fruit" dimension to the story. Unlike incest or NC it is still within the bounds of social norms and thus is probably the most popular "taboo" addition to a story idea. It is almost dichotomous, in that it is "fobidden" but socially acceptable. As such it can be an atractive idea to readers by adding a touch of the forbidden, without forcing them to really challenge societal norms in thier choice of reading material.
