is it just me, or is it really true that children talk 90% of the day. when you ask them for quiet they talk more, is there ever peace? I've been asking mine to hush for just 2 minutes for over an hour, yet he's still talking non stop. is there a muzzle for children??? lol, just kidding about the muzzle.

innane babble drives me mad from my little 10yr old brother

its true they talk till the cows come home

it's worse when they are only 4 though... at least at 10 they will eventually go find something else to do than bug you.

no it's not just you.
We once tried to bribe my sister with $20 (for a 7 year old that's a lot) if she'd keep quiet for 5 min.

she lasted 5 seconds.
You will never get peace. It'll just get worse as they get older. until, eventually, they run out of steam. sorry.

While the babbling gets on your nerves now............someday you'll look back on this time and wish that you had tape recorded every word.....

have you ever noticed with kids that when its cold they always leave the doors wide open
but in the summer they always bloody shut them

ack!!

i have some it on tape, what you can recognize as words any way, he doesn't talk to clearly yet. that i guess is the most annoying part, not being able to understand what he's babbling about.

enjoy their talking now.. encourage it.. talk to them about everything under the sun

because some day they won't talk to you.

I have 4 children.. the oldest is 15 and I miss the talking we used to do. Now I barely see him.. He doesn't live with me but when he comes to visit I would love to sit down and enjoy a talk about his life.. but he is to busy.

again.. enjoy your childrens chattering now.. someday you will miss it.

take this from a mother who it used to drive crazy.. thank god my youngest one does it still.. because I truely do miss my older childrens chatter.

I have an 18 yr old daughter who follows me around the house, talking my ear off........and MOST of the time I love it!

Occasionally, I'll get a little impatient with the chatter......my daughter senses this and tells me that her friend's parents would love it if their kids talked to them. She's right......I am a lucky mom.

My six year old will talk until he runs out of things to say....

then he makes it up as he goes!

Incessantly chattering and generally charming.

It's the silence that brings fear to every parents heart. You can learn to tune out the noise, but silence means trouble.

When I babysit I have the kids play the Quiet Game. Whoever talks first loses. I don't even have to offer up any prize.

They actually come up with cute little things to write down on the paper. So, I'm really encouraging creativity and helping them with their cursive at the same time.

:D

At least that's what I tell myself.
