Death toll from Haiti quake hits 724 as tropical storm looms
Sun, 15 Aug 2021 19:15:19 GMT
The death toll from a devastating earthquake in Haiti rose to 724 on Sunday as rescue workers scrambled to find survivors buried under buildings a day...

it seems like every few months some kind of shit happens there. are they sitting on a major fault line? are they under a permanent eye of a storm? those poor people must be afraid to even go to bed at night.

Just a shitty trade off. Here's a beautiful island for you to live on but it's gonna get fucked up ever couple years or so and we best not even get into what your politics are gonna be like.

Earthquakes don't care about country borders.

They continue to have overpopulation issues compounded with poor governmental oversight.

There’s what’s called a locked fault line, the EPGFZ, running under it.

https://www.mona.uwi.edu/earthquake/files/DeformJaGPS2007.pdf

Seismic hazard assessment based on the GPS-derived deformation budget, likely maximum fault rupture lengths, and the historical seismic record suggests approximate repeat times of one to several centuries for earthquakes of maximum magnitudes of M w = 7.0–7.3. The strain that has accumulated since the destructive 1692 earthquake near the capital city of Kingston is presently sufficient to release a M w = 7.2 earthquake in eastern Jamaica.

Of course, we all know that the destruction of Port Royal by an earthquake was actually a cover story for an attack by a crew of undead pirates.

The entire Caribbean is prone to earthquakes and major hurricanes. Haiti has been the most politically unstable island in the Caribbean. They average a coup every few years. Remember they share the island with the Dominican Republic which is not anywhere near a bad.

If we wanna keep it a buck, though, several cities and coastlines in America are living under God's grace of environmental catastrophe, volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, etc.

We're not all that special in this regard, we're just a big continent with wider tectonic plates to shift. And even the smallest of viruses made our mighty society bow down to the king. All I'm saying is, keep it in pocket when thinking Haiti is an outlier target for Gaia's wrath. She will let you know what's up real quick.

Culture

The DR proves that.

It's not that hard to understand.

The Haitians are voodoo and in mindset, less-than-human.

Champkin, aka Spearechucker et. al, says it's because they are subhuman.

I live in your head rent-free and
you know that like Himmler, you are repeating a lie
so that others will ~hopefully~ come to view it as truth, but that
will never happen because everyone already knows truth is a stranger to you.

The real tragedy is that they are going to rebuild but they
are going to build in the way they always do instead of
building with future earthquakes in mind.

This is one of the reasons as to why
it is always such a disaster.

Haiti is one of the poorest places on earth....the answer to their particular.issues lies in this poverty and how they became impoverished.

Haiti was a French Colony....I believe the French bare some responsibility to this day for some of their current problems.

Haiti is also right on an active tectonic plate so they get very large earthquakes. They are unable to afford better building practices which puts them at continued risk for building collapses.

Yeah, you live in HIS head...lol

You should start another thread about him and make that claim in there, chump.:)

Well, it's been independent more than 200 years. The French haven't interfered in Haiti in all that time -- but the U.S. has.

At least the U.S. has stayed out of Haiti's most recent political crisis, and they appear to be resolving it peacefully.
