Yeesh. I'd need to take out a loan to afford most of the stuff I'd like to buy these days. Seriously. Why are sex toys, bondage gear, etc, so darn expensive? I'm assuming most of this stuff is made in other countries just like everything else we buy.

I used to get the Dream Dresser fetish wear catalog and I couldn't believe the prices on things. I wanted a spreader bar but I'd have to rob someone's wallet to buy it. lol.

I love leather. But leather fetish wear is sooooo expensive. I believe it's even more then vinyl fetish wear.

Darnit, another expensive hobby that I can't afford. lol. (I know, I don't need fetish wear to enjoy kinky sex but I just want those $200 thigh high boots and $60 crop darnit)

Darn rent and food keeps getting in the way of me trying to expand a sex toy collection. Humph.

:) Know what you mean.
Try feed/Western stores. Lots of crops and bits and harnesses and spurs and whatnot, for cheaper than specialty stores.
Don't know what to tell ya about the boots....
LOL.

Some of it is probably because it is made in another country. And, some if it is because leather is involved. It's not easy to make things out of leather and mass produce it with quality. Quality is expensive.

And, these are toys for pleasure. The makers know we enjoy them and the proper toys are what enhances the joy that much more. So, the demand is there for the quality product and those who supply it can almost name their own price. Sexual lust can be expensive, but isn't it worth it? :D

I bought a pair of knee-high leather boots at Payless for $20, and while it doesn't quite measure up to (I just made a really dumb pun) the thigh-highs, they were damn cheap and very sexy.

Unhuh.

I agree with the quality statement. I buy about one piece per paycheck and even that's stretching the bank.

Quality Fetish Gear at Decent prices

Fetish gear is very expensive. Master and i have used the below site and they have been in business for years. They are very reputable. Their gear is quality, you get much more than what you would expect for your money. If they do not have it on their site they will make it (i know this because they have made for U/us before). When i look at their prices and the prices of competitors i cannot believe it. They also run sales from time to time. i think right now they are still running a 20% off sale, but not sure.

Actually a lot of good gear is priced high, but reasonably, because it's made by skilled artisans and the materials cost a lot, and it's not made by slave labor in the third world. When I was buying more gear, I knew almost all the vendors by first name, I knew the kind of time and work being put into my garment or gear, I could specify details and they would gladly customize things, it was a dialogue and not just an anonymous purchase. Well worth the extra in most cases.

That said, I'm selective and I pick my battles. My crops come from the tack shop, but my floggers don't come from the sex toy store, rather the flogger maker.

Limited market, and the "sin" factor. Also, as others note, a lot of the stuff is hand/artisan made, and that ups the price as well.

Too expensive to "tool up" for mass production when there's a limited market.

For thigh high boots, you can't beat eBay. They have them as low as $60.00.

As for the rest, like Bikewer said, most is individually hand crafted, and not mass produced.

Spreader bars are easy and cheap to make yourself, just go to Home Depot, and buy a 3' or 4' dowel rod, and some screw in eye bolts, takes five minutes to assemble, and ours are strong enough to hold me :D

If you're really crafty, you can buy some leather, or satin to dress up the spreader bar, or even put a nice stain, and polyurethane coat on it, to give it a shine.

Home depot and Lowes are awesome places to shop for hardware, rope, chain, clips, or most anything your devious mind can come up with.
