I'm here because I can't take anymore TV news for awhile. I was burning out. I have lurked around the board for awhile. I posted on others, but they are not as free as this one. And not as friendly.

Allow me to introduce myself, as I plan on being around and I want to let you guys have a feeling of who I am.

I am 41. I am married. 17 years! I have a son who is 16, a daughter 15. 1 dog, 4 cats. Mortgage, car payments...

I am currently teaching high school social studies in Charlotte, NC.

I have taught at the college level. I am currently teaching: psychology, sociology, economics, US history, and world history.

I am a military brat, and a disabled vet, USAF, Law Enforcement. I have lived all over the damned place. So I am not 'from' anywhere in particular.

Anyhow. Thanks for being here. In these times it is nice to be able to talk with adults about things that do not involve death and distruction. Something I have been doing at work since 9/11/01. Being as I am the 'expert' and I teach the history classes... I need a break, and this is it.

It just takes a little time and effort, and a hell of a lot of money!

I should have my student loans paid off by the time I am about, oh, 120.

Seriously if this is your dream go after it. We don't get paid well. But the other compensations make up for it. Some one mentioned those in another post on another thread.

Paitence is learned. It comes with time and experiance.

Financial stablity, if you really want to enter education, you will never have it. If you belong in education you won't care to much about it. We obviously don't enter the profession to get rich. Or respect.

Don't take this the wrong way, I am not trying to be disrespectful, but teaching is like the priesthood. It is a calling. It won't take you long to know that you either belong, or need to get the fuck out fast.

If it is what you want. You will find a way.
