I love Lit,especially the Author's Hangout, because when I visit I always end up spending much more time here than I want to.

Why do you love Lit?

I concur. Some really great people are here and the info that's posted is informative.

I've met interesting folks, learned some lessons, improved my writing :)eek:), and I'll admit to getting a sick sort of fun from reading the political threads:eek:

This is one place where I can find someone to carry on an intelligent conversation with. Of course, one can also get into an incoherent shouting match, as well, but everything has its price.

First is because I met my Sir here!

Second, this is where I met some great friends.

Third, because I have learned a lot about writing from many of the writer's here. Sometimes, just by reading what they write and taking it in, processing it and figuring out how I can make MY stories better, not by copying them, but by seeing how they do things. How they "show, not tell" is my biggest one. I'm really trying to get that down.

Fourth. There are some really good stories to read, if you are willing to take the time. I start by reading my favorite author's from Lit, then reading their favorites and so on. That way, I can avoid a lot of the "trash" that seems to populate a large part of the story side of Lit.

It's a great place to discuss a wide variety of subjects including many that are beyond the scope of your RL social circle. ;)

LITs a dandy psychology lab and rat maze. Every board is like a ward at a state hospital. There's a rich variety of pathology here.

Mistress Lynn. I second that.

Thats it then. Passed Nem Con.

Because some people here are:

Thought provoking
Refreshing to the soul
Funny as hell
Too sexy for words
Inspiring
Willing to kick me in the ass when needed
Challenging to my preconceived notions

Because there's that particular type of laugh that shoots out the side of the mouth and the nose that tends to happen here.

There's also a particular type of tear that slips out the side of my eye quietly, and nobody's watching and I can just leave it there.

One thing I forgot to mention was getting to say hello to new friends like you Goldie. Thanks for the thread, hope to see you here often.

It's as fun a place to hang out, with different people and expectations of conversation than my other forums. It's good to hear differing opinions on things sometimes.

Friends? You have no friends, people feel sorry for you.

I know you like me Jimmy. You're one of my best buds here. You take the time to talk to me every day and share your thoughts with me. Not to make you upset, but yes Jimmy, I do have friends here, lots of them. Just remember though, I think you're special. Short bus special, but still special. I hope people will feel sorry for you someday too. It would be a great improvement over ignoring you and despising you. Have a good one my friend!:)

I suspect most Canadians are isolated and friendless, ROB is another one.

Oh, we may be isolated, but getting a message to a friend is easy. Our dog teams are great. They can run back and forth with at least five messages a day, keeping us well informed about things. Our igloos are sturdy and well-built, even supporting a satellite dish. Canadians can never be friendless though, we love one another and enjoy the comaraderie of sharing stories about polar bears and seals, over a cup of steaming walrus piss, a wonderful delicacy. Rob is only twelve igloos from mine, so we talk often. Many of the Canadians on here live nearby, so we get together and chat while we skin seals and chew their hide till it's soft. Why are you so lonely and friendless Jimmy?

The reason I love AH is that each thread is a library, coffee shop, or barber, where I can go to see the colorful personalities shout, laugh, snark, and play. I tend to join the rest of the folks in a back booth, just enjoying my own quiet place in the community, but I do feel like part of it.

Visiting AH is like visiting Main Street on a Saturday afternoon, except the women here are better looking and frequently show pictures of body parts.

I love Lit to express myself, and AH to belong (even very quietly).

I  Lit and the AH.

I used to love Lit. I loved it because there were discussions that were interesting to me as a writer, there were people with something to say about sex or writing, and there were loads of writing games that challenged me as a writer. I don't love what AH has become ... which is nothing short of the general board.
