In a sense, all part of the evolutionary, creative process. Lit is an ideal place for creativity, evolution.

When we are creative this requires us to go into new territory, to break out of our existing world. This is often through an amusing game.

We can look for new combinations of parts to highlight untried options. We can check what constraints we can relax to allow us to enter new territory. You are doing this all the time here . e.g. this thread.

We can try to consider alternative values, other people, the planet, larger or smaller viewpoints. Amusing yourself here is ready access to all of these.

We can combine levels, use nested structures, try to merge what is usually separate. We can try to generate new emergent properties. (Complexity theory again)


Sex, after all, is a part of a much bigger hole.
