I saw this entry on Facebook a while ago and it sums up my desire to write perfectly. Thanks to Tara Wine-Queen for summing it up magnificently

Being a reader lets you live a
thousand different lives, but
being a writer lets you create and
destroy those lives as you laugh
maniacally over your keyboard

I just pray to never meet any of my characters in my dreams… except the sweethearts with happy endings—but it’ll be my luck I’ll get one of the batshit bonkers guys. I should probably be nicer to them… but eh, that’s so boring!

I've started mainly to record my fantasies and also to put other people's fanatsies down in writing.

Also to tell of my experiences in a semi fictional way.

I didn't write for years, and eventually I just said just do it.

Personally I believe each story is improving despite some of the criticism I regularly receive, most of it from anonymous people.

Practice, practice, practice!
That's what I used to tell my weapons load crews when I volunteered for every load that was offered up and before they realized it every young weapons loader was coming to my team for advice and each had been awarded the SAC Master Weapons Loader award.

I write with my weapon 😁.

I don't know as much about the military as you do. Was this some variant of the M-16, or was it something else? Or were you loading the weaponry on an airplane?

Yeah, I feel you. Just try to give the characters a happy uncertain ending and then let them take it from there.

It's fun! It's a blast!

As a writer you are the absolute and unchallenged god of the world you create. Whatever you want to happen in that world, can happen. You are limited only by your imagination and your ability to use words. Writing is like a flying dream. The bounds of the real world do not apply.

You know that that motto is hung above George R.R. Martin's writing desk, lovingly cross-stitched by his mother.

That’s quite a dark take.

Personally I say KILL, KILL, KILL THEM ALL!!!

But of course, I mean that in a nice way.
I want to kill. I mean, I wanna, I wanna kill. Kill. I wanna, I wanna see, I wanna see blood and gore and guts and veins in my teeth. Eat dead burnt bodies. I mean kill, Kill, KILL, KILL!.

I'm fascinated with language and I enjoy tinkering with it. I enjoy exploring character and theme. I'll never make a nickel from my English degree. I might as well use it for something. I've written in some form since I was in Elementary School. Obviously not smut back then.

What is WRONG with you?

So much anger…I just can’t relate, as I’ve write the deaths of 6 people and counting so far.

Actually in my current story THE PROCESS it’s the first time I’ve ever had to end the lives of characters that I’ve liked.

True there are idiots within the story, in particular Dennis Quad who’s as much of a dumb jock as it gets, but the other three mains, they’re largely okay, and one of them is a downright decent person.

You know, in a way it breaks my heart to have to tell a tale of their demise…but they have to die, so that’s that.

It's wrong of me to quote a passage from Alice's Restaurant performed by the most anti-war singer that I ever met, Arlo Guthrie? Satire my friend, Satire. (I gave full credit for his words in my post and yes, I've met and talked with him)

Try this one on for size, this is the unofficial USAF Weapons Loaders Motto that was penned by G.K. Chesterton -

“The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.”
Chesterton was VERY anti-war but he realized what a soldier is all about. If you're depending on a soldier for protection, rest assured that he will give his life to insure that no one is getting past him

Chesterton, "very anti-war"? That seems like over-generalisation.

He was vehemently opposed to the Boer War, but vehemently in favour of Britain's involvement in WWI - so much so that he enthusiastically joined the War Propaganda Bureau, an organisation which printed apparently fabricated stories of German atrocities to encourage support for the war effort, and wrote his own pamphlet advocating the righteousness of that war.

This made my day. I actually have a Group W T-shirt

Because I'm a dumbass that likes slamming my head against the wall.:LOL::LOL:

Of course, I am a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan, so I'm used to self-flagellation. (y)(y)(y)

This lifelong Buffalo Bills fan knows exactly how you feel.

Both teams are competing for the title of #1 Champion Mistake On The Lake

All Buffalo is missing right now is a running game.
I think James Cook can be the type of #1 HB, that the Bills need for the scheme they run.

I don't think it's possible for any team, in any sport, to compare to the Cleveland Browns.

I'm a writer because the serial killer thing didn't work out. It is so much harder to do it than people realize. :p

Kemper would have been more successful if he hadn't indulged in necrophilia after each murder. Or as the old saying goes, he stopped for a cold one

Cleveland's last championship season was 1964 when they were the NFL champions.

Buffalo's last championship season was 1964 when they were the AFL champions.

🏈 As @MillieDynamite says- Big Bada Boom!

At least y'all made 4 straight Super Bowls in the 90's.

We haven't made a single one.
