I'm no fan of the show or the books or the movies (I just don't get Oprah but I admire her resolve and enterprise mucho much) but I was just listening to some dorks on the radio slam her without cause. It all boiled down to Black (she's not Black enough), Rich (she has too much), and fat (she's not an ideal shape).

Well, I think I can speak for every single white male in America, and with authority. (Or is that 'athori-tahh'?)

We hate Oprah because she hates David Letterman, and we love David Letterman.

At least Letterman KNOWS his show is stupid and useless!



But seriously, white men hate Oprah? Hmm. I like black people (oh, heck, all kinds of color people), I like women, and I think these rail thin women look AWFUL. Have you seen a picture of Christina Ricci lately? She used to have curves and was hotter than hot. The last pictures I saw of her... eccch.

Women: just because Ally McBeal weighs 80 pounds and her hair looks like she just woke up, doesn't mean thats the ACTUAL standard of female beauty.

I can't say I hate Oprah Because I do not know her but what i really dislike is her attitude toward white men. She comes across (in my opinion) that most white men are lowly trailer trash (no offense to those in trailers) and not worth the air they breathe. I guess what i am sick of, and it's not just Oprah or even African-American (PC term theirs not mine) America but minorities that feel they should be catered to because the are minorities. I like the music too, but most of the shit they say really pisses me off. Maybe they are saying what their general audience is thinking, I really have no way of knowing, but they certainly aren't saying what I am thinking! I think it is more a case of them saying things to shock people, like Howard Stern. People tune in to hear what ridiculous thing they are spewing next. Give me a break...when a "bi-racial" child walks down the street, she or he is usually seen as Black because there are so many shades.

I'm the result of a thousand different permutations of White and Black, yet no one would doubt my culture or heritage.

the question obviously began with the assumed fact that Oprah is disliked by more than the average amount of white americans. Or is that assumption wrong - dont know as I am from GB and not sure.

We know here here and I certainly wouldnt rush too watch her show - any way the genre of that type of TV show is not as popular as it was.

Just wonder what the underlying point of the question was, it is interesting that in Europe now there is a resurgence of right wing views and far right parties. France has just give massive votes to Le Pen who is France National Front and UK has record amount of BNP in upcoming local elections.
