Why is it that my mouse sometimes freezes up,usually on start up?.

I switch on and the little bugger just won't move.It makes it awfully difficult to do anything except crash dive and hope it works
when you restart.

The procedure in the book of words only works when it thinks it
will,ie press Ctrl+Alt+Del.

So why does it and what can I do about it.Btw the thing is only a month old.

What sort of mouse is it? Did it come with it's own driver? (as in a disk)
Could be a glitch and need to reinstall the driver.
Are you running Windows?

Clean and check it manufacturers site for new drivers. Other than that I am outta ideas. Get yerself a Microsoft Intellipoint? :)

You need the magic of my Logitech laser mouse!!

It's sleek, it's stylish...it never needs cleaning!

That's happened to me too a few times, both with my old mouse and my optic mouse. I still haven't figured out why, though...

Thanks all.

I think I'll try a new one and see what occurs.:D

The mouse is only a month old, or the whole system?

If the mouse is only a month old then the problem is most likely an incompatible driver -- check the mouse manufaturer's web site for an upgraded driver or microsoft's windows update for a better mouse driver.

If the whole system is a month old, then take advantage of your warrantee and get help from the manufacturer or where you bought it.

If there is a mouse control panel in your system tray, see if removing it solves the problem. I've had mouse utilities that I don't really need interfere with other software and cause the the mouse to stop responding.

If you do change to a different mouse, make sure the drivers are compatible with your version of windows -- many cheap mice come with older drivers that only work through Windows 95 and need newer drivers for windows 98 and later.
