Do you write for the readers, or for yourself?

do you write, with a specific reason or agenda with a higher purpose in mind. Or is it just about the sex?

I write for me mostly and to get the voices out of my head.

Plus the sex ain't bad either. I used to be a pervert but i turned Pro about the time I started to write. :D

Mostly for myself, to keep a permanent record of some of my fantasies. Partly in the thought that others might enjoy the same fantasies I have. Occasionally to try to promote the ideas that fitness, not-so-young characters, and even married sex can be hot.

I started writing in the 70's because what I wanted to read wouldn't happen otherwise.

Since those days, there are more people writing and reading like me, so all's well in my world :)

I write infrequently. When I do write it's simply because the urge hit, and I have an idea stuck in my head that I think makes for a good story.

Because the chicken crossed the road to get there before the egg? :D

Do the stories just have sex or do thay have purpose, are they reflective on the greater world? Do they send a message?

Mine are always more about what the people are feeling and thinking. In some ways, the sex is secondary to the thoughts and emotions.

Sex is easy, any two people can do it. It's the thoughts and emotions that make it something more

Like nicecthulu, I need a creative outlet of some sort. Sometimes I crochet or cross-stitch, but three years ago I found Lit and tried writing. So now I write when I can, because I like it and because it's fun.

It's all fine and good if a story is hot, but a story should have soul and purpose to it. Other than a hot tab there should a sould or quality tab next to stories.

I don't know if any of mine would even qualify.

I'm trying to write one like that right now and i can't find the inspiration to put the finished idea unto the screen!

There is in a way. It's called a score.

But then again the troll tab overshadows both of those tabs.

Says who? This is a sex story site. Who are you (or anyone else) to say that a reader can't come here just to get off on a story? There's room here for a full range of both author and reader preferences. The site isn't just for you.

And just who would be the judge of said "quality"? And why does a story need purpose? Why can't it just be for fun?

One day years ago (2005) I was reading stories and some didn't seem all that good to me. One day I said to myself, "Self, you have a goo imagination and can write as good as some of the stories you're reading".

So I decided to try. My first few tries were pretty bad. My first two tries were even turned down. Everyone said get an editor, which I did. I have had and still have some of the best editors out there in Lit land. My stories would be crap without the help I have gotten over the years.

I write whatever crazy shit comes into my head. I write for me! Sometimes it's pretty good, other times not so good. I'm having fun and that's what it's all about for me. I'll write till I get tired of it.

Senior Literotica members who have multiple well recieved stories. I am not one of these persons, i'm simple a newbie!

I'm interested in how people relate to & communicate with one another. Sex is part of how that happens - it's a conversation that people have with their bodies. (In Jane Austen's day, "intercourse" was used to mean "conversation"; I'm sorry that we've lost that double meaning.)

Conventional porn annoys me because it tends to cut off sex from the rest of the psyche. I'm less interested in seeing two people shagging than in exploring why it's happening. There isn't enough out there that scratches that itch, so I write some of it myself. It doubles as a gift to my partner and girlfriend.

But if I have to be honest, I like having my ego patted too. (Said ego is currently bruised because almost nobody seems to be reading my latest chapter - I think mostly because it got bumped off the "new stories" view within a day by a flood of others in the same category. First world problems!)

Post a link to your stories in your sig. It sometimes helps attract readers.

I write because it's fun and the ideas keep popping into my head, demanding to be released. I'd read quite a few stories on Lit (after a friend recommended the site to me) before deciding to try writing one myself. I had some excellent mentors/editors/ fellow writers on this site (to whom I'm eternally grateful) that helped me develop my craft and corrected my many newbie mistakes.

To quote Jerry Garcia "What a long, strange trip it's been." :D
