Why do you visit the AH?

Apart from (to use his own phrase) the usual suspects: Amicus, RR, Sometimes Roxelby to start political/sociological bun-fights. Why do you visit the AH?

I visit all the boards. I hit "New Posts" and visit anything that appeals to me.

I didn't even know there were different boards for the first few months I was here.

My first major fun came from my silly bad cyber roleplay thread where I met some amazing people here, and now I look for them, and new ones, still gravitating toward the threads that look interesting.

When I first got here I also had a ton of questions and set them loose on the community at large and got all the answers I needed. Now there's less of a torrent and more of a touch base.

Explanation of some of the options:

A variety of reasons, but I shall probably have to go with "Nothing better to do" or "Hangout".

I, on rare occasion, participate in actual discussions (and almost always read the discussion threads), but I mostly make oblique comments in the Isolated Blurt Thread. It is for that that I am sometimes here.

I could not simply vote "Hope there is at least something resembling a writing thread" as it's not my sole reason for checking in here, and many of these so-called 'writing threads' are obfuscating and frustrating, too difficult to follow or join in easily (your Stanislavski/Brecht thread for example, last I looked it was all about aliens and SciFi!) Often (so far) I join in (seriously or semi-seriously) and am completely ignored.

Other than 'writerly' posts, occasionally I read something interesting, whether an article or link, or a question posed.

Thanks for asking, GC. You are among a handful of regular peeps here I take the trouble to read (and sometimes it really is trouble ).

p.s. I entered the recent contest (posted about it beforehand and was ignored), then decided not to post re. my entry as the last several pages of that so-called 'support' thread seem to be personal conversations about fuck all.

Mostly though I visit cause the AH makes for AWESOME procrastination.

Not to mention, no one has called the cops on me for poking sharp sticks at people, even when they're really into their politico threads.

I come to take part in writing threads when there are any, to stroke, (you betcha), to hang out, or time-waste... I hardly ever come here to vent at anybody- in fact, there are times when I stay away because I know I'll vent on someone...
