When exactly was the President handed the purse strings by congress? Also, wasn't the majority of that deficit spending approved by the previous administration? It costs money to dig your way out of the sort of economic collapse that previous administration led us into.

As for the topic, I don't love or hate the President. I'm mostly disappointed, many things he campaigned on haven't materialized. Some through no fault of his, but some because he refused to face down an intransigent GOP (Gitmo, and the butchering of single payer health care for examples)
