Every time I turn around there is a new MSN 'upgrade' or new Yahoo to download. And they don't take no for an answer... you have to tell them no every single time or give up and download it, just to shut them the fuck up.

Spyware

Often, they're doing it to add spyware. That's why I don't have the latest version of Netscape Navigator.

Let me tell you pal... "they" had better be spying on my yahoo conversations and webcam because I surely am jeopadizing national security.

DR: Hiya
MT: Hi there
DR: How are things?
MT: Just fine and you?...

Do ya think "they" can figure out the code, DR?

:D

LMAO.... no code there but "they" have might be able to figure out the hand signals on my webcam. It sure would not take long to figure those out.

Some of the "upgrades" are fixes for things that are broken but you don't encounter because it in a part of the program you don't use.

Other "upgrades" contain other added features that you don't need, but AOL has, so other services have to add them too.

Those added features introduce new bugs that you don't encounter, because you don't use the added features that make them more like AOL, and that in turn requires another version to fix the bugs introduced in fixing or upgradding the last.

In short, the fine art of debugging a program before releasing it has been lost and that requires sending each version out to the "Great Unwashed" so they can debug it for the programmers.
