Really? why is that? we all know that in life sometimes the bad overpowers the good. So why does 007 always prevail? why do Aliens always lose again mankind?

I just don't get it. Is it that Hollywood producers just don't have the balls to produce something contrary to what is expected? Or is that we as a human race cannot cope with being confronted with a bad outcome?

Would love to hear your thoughts. Just to be clear, I would love to see a movie where evil/the bad guy wins for once. (Are there any that I have missed?)

depends on the plot

There are "slice of life" movies where people sometimes do pass away/die...

There are also horror movies ,, where Jason slices and dices people

There have also been movies such as The Perfect Storm

In movies, depends on the box office draw, age of people they want to see it...etc

Mostly because the "triumph of the human spirit" plot is so common, we see a protagonist resolving an external conflict in most mass-market stories. Because readers and viewers need to look up to the protagonist in some way, they're usually depicted as being heroic in some manner. Good typically fights evil, therefore a typical external conflict is resolved with the good guy triumphing over the villain.

It's also a holdover of the Germanic storytelling tradition that's slipped into western culture.

It's also that happy endings with full resolution and clearly defined external conflict sell better in a mass-market format than stories with a sadder ending, muddier resolution and internal conflict.

I recently watched and highly recommend "The Flowers of War." There's no happy ending nor good guy triumph in that one. It was very touching.

Side note: 007 always win because he kicks ass! IMHO. And he's hott like hell  Daniel Craig, yum!

In "The Dirty Dozen" several of the main characters that we are hoping survive get toasted in the end. The main, "Will he make it?" is Jame Brown zig zagging trying to reach the escape.

Oh oh oh ! Another movie popped to my mind that doesn't have a happily ever after, kiss kiss, guy get girl: The Mist. God, I love that ending! in a non-creepy sadistic way :whistles:

Are you looking for a date to a movie? I don't see a personal ad in your statement.

well I think in real life, everything people do is good in their own eyes.

The movie Fallen has the good guy lose in the end. Pretty good, has Denzel Washington, John Goodman, Donald Sutherland.
