I had to journey out of town for the past 4 days on business, and I asked my older brother to watch my apartment for me. Nothing big, just feed my fish and my bird. I talked to him pretty much everyday to make sure nothing was amiss. I got home last night around 1am or so, and my bird wouldn't stop acting crazy. Finally, I went to put her in her cage for the night, only to find out there was no food or water for her. No wonder she was having a fit. So, I checked my email and schtuff, put a CD on, and fell asleep.

Today, I got another soundcard, so as a precautionary measure, I always reboot the computer prior to hardware installation just to make sure there are no anomalies. When I started it back up, it wouldn't, and still won't, recognize the C: drive. Oh, and did I mention that it doesn't show any IDE or SCSI Controllers, either? It won't even start in safe mode. I just get an A prompt.

After the system self-diagnosed itself, it pointed out that one of the culprits could possibly be a virus. But I always scan anything before I download it, so I was figuring it was a hard drive/motherboard conflict.

When my brother came over, he saw me working on the computer, and said, "Man, your box is FAST! I was downloading stuff like CRAZY!"

*sigh*

Does someone have something heavy and blunt lying around?

Times like this make me glad I didn't sell the laptop when I got the PC...

Sounds like your brother and my sister would be a match made in heaven...or hell...for the rest of us.

I've had to remove 3 viruses in 2 years because she downloads so much crap...she accepts any old file from complete strangers...she doesn't scan anything.

I'm so glad I have my own computer...I don't have to have my stuff destroyed because she's an idiot.

It's the file format of an mp3 that makes it almost impossible for a virus/trojan horse programme to be added to it. Hence the fact that mp3's and Napster are safe.
Hope that answers your question.
