Why did my stories look prettier when submitted?

My stories' paragraphs got extra blank lines between them, and dialogue was more spaced out after my story stopped being "pending."

They look better now and are easier to read. Was this prettification done by hand, or was it automatic?

It was probably automatic. Literotica uses the HTML paragraph tag to format stories instead of the '<pre>' prformatted text tag that many other sites use.

However, from your description of when the change occured, it might have been done by Laurel manually if the appearance change is different from what you saw when you previewed your story. The only difference I know of between preview and the final posting is the line length.
