Why can't Trolls be banished

I'm not a very technical person so I really don't know the how's and what's but why oh why can we not get rid of the trolls in here. After reading Guh's posting in the thread for Angelique I was sickened. What kind of sick person says hope you kid dies. He also felt he had to contribute to the What the hell post. People like him have no place here - most of us just want to enjoy what we're reading not have to deal with an idiot like him.

I am not sure, but I think Laurel can ban jerks like him, if you notice to your lower right corner, says IP:Logged. But again, I am not a pro so...*shrugs*

I guess the best is to ignore jerks like that, and they will go away.

Laurel, take a look at the "angelique needs your help" thread. This troll posted as RR nitelite. If there was ever a reason to ban someone from the BB, his comment would justify it. He also posted later as GUH. He's been in almost every thread, spreading hate and discontent.
If he were in chat and made comments like that, I'd ban his ass as fast as my fingers could find the buttons, and not feel the least bit guilty about it. It's your site, your choice tho. However, idiots like this will eventually run the "good guy's" from the site, just by their annoying, insulting, insensetive comments.

From what I have seen, these trolls are few, have no happiness in their lives whatsoever and like to crash any small amount of fun others contrive from these threads. The troll who posted on Angelique's thread was just plain cruel and heartless, I hope Angelique had enough sense to just ignore that comment. I have never wished bad things on anyone, but whoever this person is I hope you have conscience enough to be able to sleep at night and live with yourself. Seems to me the best way to deal with these idiots is just to ignore them. If you don't even notice them eventually they will either stop what they are doing and go away or they will do something so stupid and heinous that they will get themselves banned. In either case they will be gone. Being fairly new to the board I have had very limited dealings with these individuals, so have not been exposed to the stupidity that they can stoop to. Additionally even if I had seen it I would ignore them anyway and not justify their existence.

I understand that budman and I saw the original post too. I just feel that all we are doing by reacting is encouraging them to do something even worse. What was said was dispicable and crass and should not be tolerated but if the individual involved had been ignored when they first started acting like a fool maybe it wouldn't have got this far. I'm not saying we should accept what he/she did as right i'm saying that we should ignore the individual totally. If he posts on your thread do not acknowledge him, if he/she posts a thread do not read or acknowledge it. After being shunned for a while perhaps the individual would straighten up. Maybe I'm a dreamer but it's worth a try. If nothing works to upset people then it is no longer fun to try.
