Why can't I imagine public sex?

I have two characters, Silus and Rebb. They are coworkers on the late night shift at a fuel station. They want to hook up at work. I want to write about them hooking up at work.

So why the DEVIL can't I imagine any situations of them fucking at work?

Like, she wants to suck his dick behind the counter, he wants her to do that. I want someone to walk in, catch them, and then get involved with it. That sounds hot to me.

The problem is that, each time I try to write the story, my brain stops me and goes BUT THEY WOULD GET IN TROUBLE. THEY COULD BE CAUGHT ON CAMERA BECAUSE OF COURSE A FUEL STATION HAS A CAMERA AND THEIR BOSS WOULD SEE THEM AND WRITE THEM UP OR FIRE THEM and that part of my brain will not turn off.

I want to turn it off. I want to write about characters having sex in public places and getting away with it and my brain won't let me.

I need something, anything, that might trick that part of my brain into being happy with the smut so it will shut up.

Someplace in that station, there is a spot that isn't covered by the cameras, but is still visible to a sufficiently diligent customer (e.g. hears noises and goes to investigate). I'm thinking a deep set swinging door to the storage room or something of the sort.

By the way, you need to tell me more about Anhk-Morpork / The Real Midwest. Big Discworld fan.

As it happens, a friend of mine was telling me about how a gas station he used to work at only had FAKE cameras, because they had a theft and they asked the GM about it and they had to confess that the cameras were only for appearance, so I'm thinking of doing something with that. So a story where they start small, and get larger and larger, until they have full sex, but it ALSO serves the narrative need of building up sexual tension for the reader.

Well, as a fellow Discworld fan, you know all about Anhk-Morkpork. The Real Midwest is what I call living in southeastern Missouri. Because THIS is where the REAL midwest is. Not Ohio, HERE. Because I am a proud missourian. More or less. GNU Terry Pratchett.

Sounds like your imagination is broken. Maybe you should try a different hobby that is less mentally demanding. :)

Yes thank you that's very helpful, I'll be sure to keep that useful suggestion in mind in the future.

Did you figure out a solution?
I did! I'm going to have the security cameras not actually be hooked up to anything. A friend of mine used to work in a gas station and they learned that about their own security cameras after they talked to the GM about getting the footage of someone who shoplifted some beer.

Just to add a thought, could one of them be related to the manager? A way to help smooth out any wrinkles in case they get caught?
Perhaps an angle into some incestuous power play where the boss makes demands of their relative to stay silent?
Depends on the category you want to stay in or out of, I guess, but it’s another way around the problem.

How about the power goes out and the only the moonlight is flooding the store. That gives enough for the co workers to start at it, and shortly after someone comes in to ask what happened to the power?
