Why can't I hear from women

I am a new author. I have been writing a series called Divorced in South Florida. It's the story of a mature man whose life ambition has become to plunder the rear ends, with cock and tongue, of women around his age. Most of the comment have been favorable, but only from men. Is there any way to learn how women think about these activities?

As a woman, it's not an interesting story to me. :)

How do you know the gender of anyone who comments on your stories? Because they declare themselves? (ha, ha, ha, ha)

Doesn't sound like you're here to write stories but rather to hook up. Too bad. Sort of would like to see the expression on your face when you've convinced sweet little Sadie to move from the Internet to your front door and you discover that Sadie is a cop named Butch.

I'm curious about your motivation. Is there a reason you want to appeal to women readers more than to men? It sounds like you've hit a combination that your own gender enjoys and that works for you. Is your desire to speak to women more of a "hoping to hook up with a reader" thing, or a "gosh, wish I could appeal more broadly as an author" goal?

Either way, it's a tough question to answer. If you were asking about your personal love life, it would be simple: deal with the specific woman. They aren't a homogenous mass with a single perspective. Given that you're dealing in print, though, you've got to try to figure out some sort of generalization - at least one that appeals to the target audience of "more women than I currently appeal to." As a horse with no gender, I can't really give you personal insight on the topic, but as an author who has written to and from genders not my own, I suggest talking to as many people (and ideally, writers) of that persuasion as possible, getting their feedback both early and late in your writing process, and spending some serious time trying to visualize yourself in that person's position. It may be difficult for you to imagine things specific to the female perspective, but it's not hard to start with some largely shared desires.

One thing that strikes me immediately about your work as you describe it is that it's centered on a male character whose goal is a large variety and number of conquests (if, of course, I'm reading you correctly). That would tend by its nature to make the male character's thoughts, sensations, and feelings more dominant than the females' because he's always the same man and the women keep changing. He gets more development with each story, while they are switched and swapped about. That strikes me as a fantasy more likely to appeal to men than women, as both genders seem to me to share an equal desire to be the center of attention. :)

All the best -

Shanglan

I can't speak for other women, but the idea of having a man's cock up my ass isn't really a turn on....

Edit to add - I don't see where the OP is declaring an interest in hooking up with readers. What am I missing?

Thanks- These are helpful replys and I hope I get more. This is my first story and I have enjoyed

I concede the hooking. any man who does anything has that motive. We can debate the point, but that is my belief, and male authors have exhibited this behavior as much as anyone.

But, notwithstanding that fact, my goal is to write stories that have some humor as well as sex and display the hidden thoughts of mature adults. My criticism of the Mature category is that it is too many men boffing girls twenty and thirty years years younger. I am only interested in men that boff women their own age because that appeals to me more, but also want to think about the funny things that got them to this stage of their life. I much more enjoy writing the lead up to sex.

I also had this perception that older women were ready to be much more adventurous about their sexual activities, but I think I am wrong about that. It clearly is a story for males. If I write more, I may want to broaden the appeal.

I have never written stories to try to hook up with anyone at all. Writing itself is far too difficult and requires so much of my energy. I can hook up anywhere...grocerystore, farmer's market, restaurants, wherever. I don't need to use my stories for that purpose. They are strictly to entertain.

I think that focusing on the story of how your leads get together and on the humorous elements of their lives is a strong plan. The moe strongly you characterize these mature women and their unique perspectives on life, I think the more likely you are to generate a broader appeal.

Judging from the reactions on this thread (and in a variety of other forums), you might also want to consider a story not heavily focused on anal sex. Being anally penetrated is something many people, male and female, feel nervous about, and if it's not done carefully those fears can be justified. It's difficult for readers to feel adventurous when they're contemplating pain.

Hi, Bo, and welcome to Literotica and to the AH. I also like to hear from women readers, and more often than not, I can tell if a reader is a man or woman. Those who mention their pussies or clits or getting wet are women. Besides that, women often have names that include girl, or princess or similar words. :D

If you want more feedback from women, have your character turn the women over and eat their pussies.

Thanks Boxlicker101. This is excellent advice.

Eating pussy is a universally approved activity. I think the UN has a commission on it. I am in the midst of the chapters right now. I am going to take this advice and have a mature woman advise the main character that his diet is deficient and he needs to eat more pussy.

Are numbers 1 to 100 as wise as you.

Some people think the number represents a college course. Actually, I named myself after the highway that ran near my house when I joined Lit.

I write about analingus too, as part of anal sex. The fans of that kind of thing are very demanding.

The comments I have received are clearly from men. Actually I have not found them that demanding. Pretty much on par with most men. Women are more discriminating and thoughtful typically

They should take applications. I would have to be trained. Would be happy just to be an intern Congress for many years refused to fund the US obligations to the UN. If it knew there was pussy to be found, it would have thrown barrels of money at it. John Edwards would have voted for it if he were there Maybe not Barney Frank

Perhaps you'd get more takers if you stopped referring to your women readers as "older" and "mature".

Just a suggestion.

There are women who enjoy anal stories, but youve run into a nest of grumpy old bisexual bastards and bastardettes. SR71PLTs feelings are hurt cuz you didnt offer to pick him up and drive him home. Sarah's our resident lounge lizard.

Women of a certain age, or lush ripe women?

How about when the term 'girls' is used to describe mature women, 24-40 say?

Yes. And Playgirl is a women's magazine.

My interest really is in women that are truly mature. Perhaps they don't frequent Lit. I find these stories with thirty year age differences absurd. They happen in real life but rarely and perhaps even more with older women. My fear at the outset that the audience doesn't exist. Guess I'm left with horny sixty year olfa like me

Hi Bob!

They're good stories, but they didn't really pique my interest. I think it's because they're a guy's fantasy from a very male-centric pov. The fantasies that you're posting are something that more men than women are attracted to. And I think maybe that somewhat else hit it on the head when they mentioned ages of women on Lit. Women tend to find something that they identify with in the story. Either a fantasy element or a character they like. While your ladies are likeable, there's not a lot of women on Lit who identify with them. So there's a disconnect there.

SARAH is definitely mature, maybe ripe is the better word.

I'm actually surprised when women enjoy my stories. One or two slightly more romantic tales aside, most of my stories are very male fantasy driven. I write a lot of two women-one man threesomes, so I'm always pleasantly surprised when I do get a positive comment from a female reader.

As a man, the best way to appeal to female readers beyond radically shifting genre is to make sure the women in your stories exist as more than just bodies and holes to be filled. If the female characters have desires and motivations of their own it can really help to draw women in.

Thanks. My stories are mostly filled with anecdotes, an attempt at humor and asscentric sex. this is good advice I have some revising to do
