Why are we trying to take over the entire middle east?

Why are NATO forces trying to take over and militarily occupy the entire middle-east through proxy wars and CIA-organized coups?

Is it to seize total control over the oil assets in those regions?

As with most wars and acts of military aggression, this is probably being done for the greater power and profit of petroleum and defense industry.
