Why are Republican Presidents Bigger Crooks than Democrat Presidents?

I watched an old George Carlin HBO special from 1988 recently, and part of his routine involved the record-settting number of Indictments against the Ronald Reagan Presidential Administration....something like 138.

So I confirmed it as fact...and then found a list of all major US federal political scandals.

Looks like the Republican Party are MUCH bigger crooks than the Democrats.

Why is that? Why are Republicans more likely to break the law?

I dunno but just a brief glance at that list makes me a bit suspicious. Something that appear to have been once scandal are broken down into a dozen. If you were just glancing and not reading you'd think Carter had 2 scandals but one of his scandals was Reagan being caught with Carter's notes. I'm by no means an expert on history and I'm not going to confirm those line by line.

I think what's interesting even if you even out the lists is I bet there are more impeach Obama threads at this point than Impeach Bush notes despite one having eight years and the other just creeping up on four.

I think Republicans have become experts at deflection of their crimes by making stuff up about the other guys.

You see it daily out of the Republican Patsies here on the GB as well as in the media.

They seem to think if they yell louder it erases their wrongdoings.

Silly rabbits.

I'd say it boils down to simply thinking they are above the law, but it goes into much more than that...

I think there is a deep psychosis in the republican establishment of appearing for things like family values and blah blah blah, but in reality are just hiding a lot more things in the closet and so over compensate to keep up appearances. Like the most religious person at church getting caught in an affair or is secretly gay.

Pure capitalism/libertarianism fosters greed and a fuck you got mine mentality that republicans just lap up time and time again without any ethical considerations. That's not to say there aren't some questionable apples on the Dem side but we do see a lot more of it on the Repub side.

Liberal Republicans and Establishment Democrats are far more likely to be crooks because they are not motivated by idealism. The much maligned "far right" and "far left" are less likely to be corrupt because they are not as motivated by money or personal gain, however, the "far left" is a bit more likely to be corrupt than the so-called "far right" (if a "far right" even truly exists, which is another subject).

In short, "moderates" are much more likely to be corrupt because they don't have any particular reason to be involved in politics besides self-interest.

Obama clearly shoots that theory clean out of the water as do Clinton and Bush I. Try again Renard, once more with feeling.

Sounds like you should do more than just "glance" and "bet" on what the words actually say.

Crazy thought, I know.

Americans have come to expect a certain amount of "scandalous" activity in government over the years, especially in modern times.

That's why it must frustrate Republicans no end that the Obama administration has been one of the most scandal-free in memory. It hasn't stopped Fox and Friends from trying to gin up a scandal-of-the-month ("Fast and Furious", "But But Benghazi", etc).

None of these nontraversies have legs though, despite the best efforts of Busybody and the Three Marine Stooges (AJ, Vetty, and Miles) to promote them.

It's weird when Sean Renaud posts in the same thread as his alt renard_ruse.

.

I think would especially true with people who have to maintain a public profile.
Obviously. And it was a joke. Since people actually confuse those two names for some reason.

it's even better when they call him Sean Renard.

It is the Renaud - Renard similarity as well as the same posting style.

You do know the most recent far right movement is funded by self-interested pricks like the Koch brothers and Murdoch correct?

In general right wingers are less in touch with reality and therefore probably more prone to doing underhanded things.

It's whomever has the POWER at the moment is the group that will crave more power and will do illegal things.

When Republicans controlled congress they were more likely to be indicted. Same goes for Democrats when they controlled congress or the white house. It isn't hard to figure out.

It is crazy. Who has time to research dozens and dozens of incidents some of them older than I am to find out if lists that look funny are probably funny?

I first read the title of this thread as, "Why are Republican Presidents Bigger Cocks..."

Imagine my disappointment when opening it.
